"She sounds fun."

"You know, for someone so protective, you're strangely alright with me getting punched in my face."

She smiled. "My brother tossed me in a volcano."

"Yeah, but I'm a softie."

She lightly poked his side. "Mmhm. What happened to being a badass inside and out?"

"He went away after a few cuddles."

She chuckled and kissed his cheek, setting her head on his shoulder. "Mmmhmm. Let's go with that."

"Do you wanna go back home?"

"Home being?"

"The beach house."

She pushed herself up, wincing a bit. "Sure, but I'll need someone to lick my wounds." She grinned wickedly at him. "Kidding. But I will need to take it slow for a bit."

"Well, that's fine, either way," he said with a wink, standing up.

"I'm gonna call your bluff again. You're not into that." She stood too, using him to help pull herself up. "There's a portal gem on the desk."

"Oh, but you are?" he asked, picking up the gem. "How do you know that it wasn't just me gauging your interest?"

"I'm not opposed to it." She flashed a grin with a wink. She held herself up with the wall. "Think of the house and chuck the gem, hard enough to break it."

He followed her instructions, throwing it at the wall.

The portal opened. She limped through and collapsed on the sofa, pulling the fuzzy blanket over her and curling it under her chin.

He sat down near her feet, setting a light hand on her calf.

"Get some sleep. You barely got any."

He sighed. "Do I have to?"

She glared at him from above the blanket.

He groaned, gently scooting Tessie over and laying down next to her.

"Sleep. Laying down does not mean sleep."

"Mmmmmmmmmm," he whined, closing his eyes.

She sighed. "You're impossible."

"You like it."

She snickered. "Unfortunately." She flopped her arm over the armrest, feeling for the remote on the TV stand. When she found it, she clicked it on and tossed it at Runner. "Because I know you're not going to do as told."

"Oww…" he said sleepily, his eyes already closed.

"A softy indeed." She shifted, moving in a more comfortable position for her wings.

"You're makin'…me soft…"
