She rested her chin on his shoulder. "Hmm. But you don't need to brag."
She rested her chin on his shoulder. "Hmm. But you don't need to brag."
"I gotta gloat in my victories, for they're few and far between."
She smiled. "Fine. I'll give you that."
Runner fell silent, staring at the fire.
Tess shifted, using Runner as a pillow as exhaustion started to overtake her.
"Did I tire you out?"
She snuggled closer. "It's a combo of a lot of tiring things. Using my dragon form at night doesn't help." She yawned. "I run on sunlight, kinda like a flower. The more I use, the less I have available during the night. Sleep is a temporary alternative form of energy."
He draped an arm over her, smiling. "Gotcha."
She fought against closing her eyes, not wanting to fall asleep again. "Runner?"
"What's up?"
Her eyelids drooped. "Why me?"
He tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
Sleep's actually starting to sound like a good idea. "Why choose me? There's plenty of better girls out there. Ones that aren't just troublemakers."
"When I first met you on that street in the middle of the woods, I was in a bad spot. Confused, lost, and terrified that my tattoo would move. I didn't understand what it meant. But, then I meet you and Cin, and immediately I'm accepted by you guys. Hell, you smuggled me into your world for the fuck of it. That kindness really touched my heart. Plus, you're gorgeous, and that always helps."
She smiled sleepily. "Takes one to know one." She said her and Cinthia's sort of motto they've had since the first day they've met. To them, it meant that while I might not know the exact struggle you're going through, I know perfectly well what it means to be lost and struggling. While I might not know exactly how you're feeling, I'll always be there to support you in any way I can. I'll share your burden, and you'll share mine. We'll have each other's backs until the day we die.
Tess closed her eyes, sleep coming close to claiming her.
"Couldn't have said it better."
She finally let the darkness wash over her, falling into a deep sleep.
He smiled, running his fingers through her hair.
((Time skip?
((Yeah, not much else to do))
((Well, she gotta wake eup den, imao
((She's not a morning person, so Runner's gotta wake her up))
Runner tapped Tess's forehead. "Wakey-wakey."
She groaned and twisted around, throwing her arm over her face.
"What, do I have to give you a kiss like Sleeping Beauty?"
"Mmm. Wouldn't mind…" she mumbled.
"Well, move your arm, silly."
She brought it away from her face.
He leaned down and planted his lips onto her's.
She turned her head so he had a better angle, lightly kissing back but still sleepy.
After a few moments, he pulled back. "Any better?"
