She chuckled as she examined her three different sketches. "That's not what I asked."
She chuckled as she examined her three different sketches. "That's not what I asked."
"I'd break myself." He set the materials into the basket.
"Again, not what I asked. It's a simple yes or no question. And I'm surprised you didn't comment on the body rolls. I'm sure you'd enjoy watching Tess do a few of those." She took the metals and began shaping them into three different pieces of jewelry.
"I actually find that stuff creepy."
She looked up. "Body rolls?"
"I got enough rolls as it is," he said, patting his gut.
She chuckled, running her fingers over the metals to get more detail into the shape. She didn't use any tools, only her hands and magic. "Personally, and I mean this in the straightest way possible, I find it kinda sexy." She sighed. "If only Archer could do them."
"I already find her attractive. I don't need to see her do some silly dance."
"Aha, so he does admit it." She didn't look at him, but she smiled as she worked. "Now it's her turn."
"Well, she said I could be, if I lost my baby fat."
"I highly doubt she said you weren't attractive." She stuck out her tongue in concentration, now using a tool to carve into the metal as if it was butter. "She's mean, but not that mean."
"I'd rather her be honest then say I am."
"If memory serves, she prefers cute over hot. Or personality. Personality will win her over. Wolf is uber hot, and she lusted after him–after Cin turned her down–because of his personality–he's pretty much exactly like Cin, with a few differences. She makes fun of guys who flaunt their looks."
"Nice to know I still have competition," he said with a small smile.
She snorted. "Wolf is also uber gay. Won't bat an eye if a woman walks in front of him in nothing but undergarments. He's dating Jamir, our resident titan–who's supposed to be my enemy but he's more like a brother to me in the short time we've known each other."
"That makes me feel a little better."
"If you really want to win her over, you need to make the first move. She's a flirt, but she's too insecure to think it'd go any farther than that." She glanced at him.
"What should I do, then?"
"I dunno, what men do when they like a girl. Ask her on a date, make excuses to touch her, maybe go in for a kiss if you're feeling brave. I'm not the expert, I'm just telling you that you can't wait for Tess."
He sighed, rubbing his face. This is what I was afraid of.
"What?"
"I just wish I didn't have to do all this workaround shit and could just tell her."
"Then tell her. That's still making the first move." She sighed, wishing she hadn't brought up the subject. Even though she and Archer were doing well, they had grown up together, so they had been far more comfortable with admitting their feelings. She wasn't cut out for relationship advice.
He sighed again, clasping his hands behind his back again.
"The concert's almost over. You should head back. Don't forget the necklace."
He nodded, grabbing it from where he had set it down. "Thank you, again. Hope I wasn't too much of a pain."
"Nah, you're fine. I work with worse." She thought about how many times she had to yell and Tessa for causing mini explosions in her workshop and suppressed a smile.
He walked up the stairs and out the door, pocketing the necklace as he entered into the backstage area.
Cinthia was sitting on a stack of crates, bent over and icing her leg. Again, she was glistening with sweat with a towel draped around her neck. She didn't notice Runner.
He walked over and tapped her shoulder. "Seen Tess?"
