Hunter smirked.
“If you’re so willing to help, does that mean you wouldn’t be so against in being my wife?”

Kenzie blushed deeply and stuttered. She felt like he was just messing with her, but she couldn't always tell with Hunter.

Hunter didn’t stop just here. Smiling, he continued.
“You know, if I had you as my wife, I wouldn’t be so against in being a McArthur,” he said casually. “You’d be a great wife and my co-partner.”

Apparently, it was possible to blush deeper than Kenzie had been because she did.

Hunter grinned, loving her reactions.
“I have an extremely important question, though,” Hunter’s grin was replaced by a serious look as he stared at Kenzie.

"What is it?" Kenzie asked warily.

“I’m also obliged to attend the party with a plus one, specifically a girl,” he started. “I always go with Leo, even if he has his own invitation. But, even though it’s early, would you like to be my plus one?”

"What is it?" Kenzie asked warily.

Kenzie blinked once, then smiled slowly.

"A masquerade ball? Hm… Let me think about that…" she paused teasingly before answering, "Yes. Yes, I'd love to be your plus one, Hunter."

Hunter released a sigh of relief.
“Thank God,” he said. “I thought I’d be stuck with Leo forever.”

"What, did you seriously think I wouldn't say 'yes'?" Kenzie asked jokingly.

“Nah,” Hunter replied. “I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist me. After all, you love me.”
Just as he said that, he tensed up. Way to go, Hunter.
