Once again andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer), thanks for everything you do.
Thank you, andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer)!!
thank you!!
Also can I just say I love the update and thank you andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) so so sooooo muchhhh
Another quick reminder from Connio. :3
I think we should all do our best to put as many as the worldbuilding chats to use. I believe that putting ourselves to work and pushing our use of the general chats to a minimum would help clear away toxicity and integrate new users in smoothly.
Another thing, I think overall we should take into account that this sadly is the internet, and things will be misinterpreted. Toxicity is something that will never disappear, we all help create it, I'm very guilty of this myself.
I want this beautiful site going back to the way it was before when I, and probably many others, could think about this site and not instantly wallow in sadness, regret, anger, and other emotions. Another small note, if you have toxicity or unwanted feelings, the Rudeness chat and Venting chat (which I couldn't find to link, rip) are there for that use.
Words are a powerful and dangerous thing. We're writers, we're learning to wield them into our own weapons, whether it be to change the world, become a journalist, or to spread a story throughout the minds of many. But we need to gain a resistance to them as well, what good is offense without a defense? Sometimes, we need to brush those toxic words off and move on.
Guys, this is so cliche, but if we can change this site, we can change the world.
I believe you are right, we can change the world, and the site for the better, sometimes you just need to vent, and that's how it is, and was Andrews new remodel of the site, things are going to be a little easier for all of us. Things get toxic, and it's all of our faults. I'm just glad so many of us are hell-bent on fixing this problem, and in fact, I think I'm going to use the other forms a lot more than I already do.
Ok, small rant ahead and I hate to revive a thread that hasn't been active in several months, but I do believe it's becoming relevant again :/ Most of this pertains to the character forums but guys…. please put things in the right subforums. We have threads for critiques and for drawing requests. andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) literally made the latter because of this thread, and he didn't do it so that you guys could just ignore it and keep cluttering up the character forums.
Before someone tells me that they didn't post in the right thread because of visibility, maybe consider the following:
Another issue is all the character Q&A threads. Right now, I don't think there's really a good place to put all of them (character chats maybe but idk) but there's a lot and it's frustrating having to wade through all of them sometimes. There's another site that I go on that used to have a universal character Q&A thread, where anyone could jump in at any time and ask or answer any questions they wanted with as many characters at they wanted. It was a lot of fun, but if myself (or literally anyone else) started a thread like that would you guys use it at all?
Sorry for the long post, but this has been bugging me for a while and I needed to get it off my chest.
TL;DR put things in the right subforum like God andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) intended.
I'm gonna have to agree, too. A lot of people are putting chats that belong in the Character thread forum, and most of them are too young to understand that there's more to this website than that. It's really frusturating (to me) to click on something that might seem like a cool character thing, only to see some kid introducing themselves.
I double agree, some posts about fun character-related things (aka my child) are being pushed down because of a million critique and drawing requests, which makes it hard to find character development posts

Yeah, and I love that Notebook is pretty lax about forum etiquette, but times like this make me wish that maybe we had a little more moderation than we do. On other sites that I frequent, threads that get posted in the wrong place usually get locked by a mod and are told to start it again in the right place. Technically, we could tell people to move their threads, but I feel like it might come across the wrong way since I'm not a mod or even affiliated with the one person who is. Like, I don't want people to think that I'm being bossy, or trying to police the forums but god it's just so frustrating having to wade through like 50 near identical threads.
Also, since people are still making character Q&As, I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and make a universal character Q&A thread? I think it might help if we could confine them all to one thread, but I don't want to do it if people are just going to ignore it and make more. Thoughts? Concerns?
That's a good idea!
My only worry is that if we move Character Critiques and Character Q&As off of Characters, what will be left there?
Endless threads asking for name advice, probably
^Haha probably. We already have some really good and interesting posts about discussing certain types of characters and certain situations that they find themselves in though. There's a lot of potential for some interesting discussions about our characters that aren't limited to critiques and Q&As.
Cool, I just wanted to make sure that Characters could carry itself!
Is there an official "ask me for drawing" subforum or not, we could see if andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) could move the art there
Yeah, the skillsharing forum was literally made because of this thread.
Noice
Alrighty, so the universal character Q&A is now live. People are already ignoring it 🙃🙃🙃 But it's there if any of you guys want to go check it out.
That's a great idea and I'm going to sticky it at least for a while. :)
I'll see if I can move around some threads this week to start cleaning up some of the boards as well. :)
andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) has blessed the chat. Good day to you sir!
Thanks @andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) :D
Cool!
