Dabria looked back to the fire. "The view?"
Dabria looked back to the fire. "The view?"
"The view, the people, the atmosphere. It was such a…change of pace, from my usual life. Some of the sailors they get there ain't too bad looking, either." She joked, continuing to toss the coin.
Dabria sighed. "That does sound nice. Have you ever been to Hiyaup? Sure, Lealio's great with its forests and meadows, but being up there in the mountains with the clouds so close and the snow-capped mountains on the bright blue backdrop of the sky, it's gorgeous."
"I don't think I have, actually. You should take me someday." Rin closed her eyes, envisioning the place Dabria had described, a small smile on her face.
"Well, once Kai gets back I was thinking it'd be a good idea to go there," Dabria said, smiling.
"Purrfect." Rin placed emphasis on the first four letters, playing with Tyche's ears. "This whole thing'll be terrifying but like, it might be fun, too."
Dabria's face went stern and her voice took on a serious tone. "Know that there is a high chance we will die. It's not a field trip. We can't afford to think of it that way."
"I'm well aware, your highness." Rin said, opening her eyes to look over at Dabria. "Thinking there might be even the tiniest bit of fun though, is the reason I've made it this far in life. Danger is something I'm used to, but focusing on that can run a person dry."

Cassidy was fine with the silence, but she had a question that she knew she would have to ask eventually. "What's your brother like?" she got out after a minute. She wasn't trying to be insensitive, though her tone made it clear that she still disliked him, but she just wanted to know why she should support one over the other. Or, more how Kai was different than his brother.
He paused for a second. The question had caught him a bit off guard. “Despite the fact that we’re twins, we were never that close…after Mother died he just became more unreachable, more…bitter. He always wanted someone to blame so…I just let him blame me for everything. Somehow I thought that was better for us both. But maybe…maybe that has something to do with why he did this. All I know for sure is that I can’t let him control the kingdom. As much as I don’t want to be in charge, the people would suffer at his hands.”
Cassidy looked at him curiously, the hostility gone from her eyes. "You don't want to rule? It's your right, I thought you noblemen were all about what is rightfully yours…" she trailed off a bit. The comment even lacking her usual snark.
He shrugged “it probably sounds selfish but I just want to be a normal person sometimes. Just knowing I’m going to be King someday, people treat me differently. Faked respect and friendships is the main thing I deal with on a day to day basis. And we can see how quick they were to betray me once the power shifted. Even after how hard I’ve tried to prove myself.” He smiled “you’re different though. You’re not afraid to insult me to my face, sounds weird but I actually like it. It’s a welcome change you know?”
Cassidy laughed. "You like my open hostility towards you? Well that's a first." She paused. "Actually, I guess you're the first nobleman that's treated me like a person, so I guess now we're even."
He laughed “you’re welcome I guess?”
She smiled, though a little bitterly. "That works. Come on, Rin and Dabria are waiting on us." She hurried ahead, though making sure not to lose them. Soon they emerged into the cave where the two women were waiting.
Dabria turned her head to the entrance of the cave when Cassidy and Kai entered. She raised her eyebrow at the latter. "Took you long enough. We need to talk." she gestured for them to sit.
Cassidy obliged, setting down the saddlebags near the other supplies and sitting on the far side of the cave, just inside the firelight.
Rin laid back down, playing with her coin as she watched the shadows dance on the cavern ceiling. This was more their fight than hers, so she would stick to listening for now.
Going to sleep now, night))
