"He is!" Esha looked up to see the musician gathering together new music. "Does he have sheet music for enough songs to take suggestions?"

Michael overheard the girl talking. "Yeah, got a suggestion box up on the counter. I already put a song in, and it doesn't look like he's getting many requests tonight."

He turned toward the person. "Well, you can just look up sheet music. Or play by ear."

"Fair point. I can play every MCR song in existence on the drums if I hear it a few times before I play."

Mitchell chuckled, getting up to order another coffee.

"Fair enough." Suddenly everyone in the vicinity was talking to Esha, and she was NOT PREPARED for this level of interaction. She returned to her book in what she hoped was a disinterested movement.

Michael fished a flask out of his hoodie, trying to pour a little alcohol in his coffee discreetly

Mitchell came back with a coffee containing three shots of espresso, catching Michael pouring alcohol in his coffee. "Hey man, this is a gay cafe, not a gay bar," he joked.

"Ugh, it's just chocolate liquor. I'm a heavweight anyways, I don't plan on getting drunk." He finished with the flask and put it away, hoping that the fact that he looked older than 19 would cover the alcohol usage

He made a face. "Chocolate liquor is disgusting, I'm not sure how you stand it." Mitchell took a sip of his coffee, then sighed. "Sorry, I'm being rude."

"Naw, you're fine. You're the nicest person I've met in a while in all honesty," Michael said, downing the rest of his coffee before going to order another. He grabbed it and a scone and sat back down

He snorted, leaning against the wall. "I appreciate the compliment, but I really shouldn't be rude and pessimistic to people that I just met."

"Don't worry, I'm only nice when I'm high. Which is almost always, but you get the point," Michael said, absently munching on his scone

"I'm only nice when I'm well rested, which is… not often. So I'm kind of a dick 24/7."

(scones are a guardian thing idk why) Michael chuckled a little. "Welcome to the asshole club man."

Mitchell laughed, his eyes falling shut. He let himself rest there for a moment, sleep tugging at his mind but never coming. He hated it.

"You look really tired man. Do sleeping pills and stuff work on you?" Michael asked quietly

He opened his eyes, looking at Michael. "Yeah, they do, but the side effects aren't worth it one bit."

"That sucks man."

He shrugged. "Well, I've been living with it my whole life, so I'm used to it." He drank the rest of his coffee. "And this stuff helps me at least move around when I haven't slept in a week or so."

"I have narcolepsy, so when I don't sleep at night my brain makes up for it by making me crash during the day."

Mitchell's eyes widened. "That… would be even worse."

"Eh. I'm on meds that keep me from doing it too randomly. And when it does happen I get a little warning now."

Hazel's eyes widened. All this people watching and listening was getting fucking crazy. She picked up her book from her table and sat next to the reading girl she'd tried to start a conversation with before literally everyone in the cafe joined in. "Mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is a bit loud. Plus I can smell weed from somewhere and I'm not really into that."

Michael heard someone mention they smelled weed and he tried to check his hoodie without anyone noticing. Huh. It didn't smell too bad, or so he had thought when he left the house

He laughed lightly when he heard the girl say that.
