Megan perched herself up on a branch, scoping out the different places from the tree. There's so much to absorb in….
Tobias was blown back a little, and he covered his face with his arm. He yelped out, surprised that they managed to come up so fast and whirl up wind like that.
Arthur pulled out, racing Matt out across the valley, twisting and turning sharply.
Alex smiled, "you ok?" he asked Tobias.
Chris sighed, "I will never understand them…"
"Hmmm… Yeah, I'm alright…" Tobias rubbed the dust and particles from his eyes and stood up. "But…" He glanced out over the valley. "Where did she go???" He mumbled, glancing out around them. Where did Megan go? She was left with that lady… But I don't know where they all went.
"Where did who go?" asked Alex, watching Tobias as Arthur and Matt flew by again.
"My sister," Tobias said worriedly. "My older sister…. She went off with a lady, but they… Disappeared." Where did she go???
"That was Frost" said Alex, quickly communicating with Arthur for a moment. "They probably went exploring, don't worry too much."
Tobias' brow furrowed nonetheless. "But – but –" he stammered. What if something happens??? What if I just… Pass out? Black out??? He began to panic.
Alex pulled him into a hug, "She'll be fine" he said firmly, "Frost is reliable, and trouble doesn't come here often." he said, flubbing the last part.
Tobias was still panicking, vibrating in Alex's arms. "I don't care who she's with, I want to know where she is!!"
Alex had been communicating with Arthur mentally, and his brother stopped above a certain point in the valley. Alex pointed to him. "She's just over that way, below where Arthur is." He told the panicking boy.
Frost looked up to see Arthur hovering over them. "Wonder what he's here for" he said.
Tobias glanced over, barely seeing Arthur in the distance. "….I need her to come back…." He whined. I just can't be this independent…
Alex pulled him close, "Hey. It's gonna be ok. She's not far and she'll be back soon." He said gently,
Tobias whimpered. "But what is she doing?" She better not be getting lost out there… Yet she's with Frost… So…
"They probably went on a patrol route." Said Alex calmly, his parental side showing through. "Your sister probably wanted to see the valley too."
He furrowed his brow. "And they went without me???" I wanted to go too… Maybe back to the river to see the fish.
"Probably figured you were having fun on your own." said Alex reasonably, watching as Arthur left his position, flying lazily over the valley.
"Well, I was… Yet I want to go back and watch the fish…." He said sheepishly. "I'm getting a little… Woozy up here."
Alex nodded, "I can take you back to the river," he said, gently, "If you'll let me"
"Oh, yes!! That'd be wonderful!…. Only if I don't get to be there by myself…" Tobias said, rubbing his slightly achey head.
"I'm not going to leave you to get lost ok?" he said gently, standing to lead Tobias back down the path.
"That sounds reasonable," Tobias replied, following Alex. "I mean… Megan says I tend to do weird things, even when I'm not supposed to, and it's the weirdest thing….."
Alex laughed, "Everyone does that sometimes." he said,
"But…." Tobias frowned, "One time I… I walked away from home because… Something was giving me stress, and I blacked out. Next thing I know, I wake up and Megan says I blacked out and got kidnapped!!" He wailed. "I don't know what went on, but she doesn't tell me…." And I don't want to know….
Alex blinked in surprise, making a mental note to ask Skye what had happened. "Hey… I'm sure you'll be fine ok? And to be quite honest you're not the only one who's done that…" he said sheepishly.
He glanced at Alex, worried. "I'm just afraid I'm something people are fighting over! And I'm no thing… I'm a person – a living being… Just like you."
Alex nodded, "Well of course you are." he said, "Though people sometimes fight over people the way they do objects."
"But why? It's not rational…." He said quietly. "It doesn't make sense…" Or at least not a whole lot, anyways.
"Well most times it's because people care about each other, more specifically when two people are in love with the same person." said Alex, "Or if two people dislike each other, but love someone who is friends with both."
"Yeah… But I wasn't sure who else wanted me…" Tobias sighed depressively. I guess that really doesn't matter, though…
"One way or another it's over now." he said, "So how about we go see those fish hmm?" he said, finally coming off of the spire's rock base.
