Miles was careful, and left the room on his tip-toes. Every step he took made the floor creak, and it freaked him out just a bit. I bet at least someone is gonna wake up to this… He thought, hurrying out the door, and soon leaving the town and everything in it while staying behind Emmeline.
She started humming softly as soon as they got out of town, doing her best not to fall asleep as they walked, "Where are we going to end up?" She asked him, "Will we get to wherever we're going today?"
“I don’t even know where we’re going, let alone wondering if we can get there,” He muttered to himself. “To be truthful we could try to build another house somewhere in the wilderness, unless you aren’t willing to be up for it.”
"A house in the wilderness sounds nice," She looked around and then glanced up t him, "As long as you're safe and there are no hunters that is."
“Y’see, that’s the thing…” Miles said under his breath. I have no idea where and how these hunters are dispersed… He kicked at a stone on the path, then glanced up at the clear night sky with the twinkling stars and the bright moon.
Emmeline yawned and rubbed her eyes as they walked, putting all of her energy into walking. She continued humming as well, looking up at the stars.
He caught her in the middle of her yawn and he let out a snicker. “I don’t think you got enough sleep while we could’ve…. that’s why it’s important to nap all day — so that you can stay up all night…”
"Having a nightmare kinda ruins the ability to nap," She said, glancing over at him, "Especially the terrifying ones that make it so I can't sleep for the next two days."
“What makes you think that you can have a nightmare when I’m there for you???” He asked, giving her some unexpected puppy eyes. “I mean, can’t you at least rest for a little bit without falling asleep? Or is that not possible?”
She shook her head, "Usually whenever I try to rest I end up sleeping," She sighed, "And as much as I wish nightmares wouldn't come when you're around, they still do."
“Hm…. that’s too bad….” He frowned, staring at his feet. “Well… what do you want to do? Just jump from town to town or settle down and build a house somewhere?…. I would really like to know what you want to do.”
"A house would be nice.." She said, looking over at him, "But if you want to go from town to town, we can do that too." Emmeline looked at the ground and shrugged, yawning again, "Wherever you feel the most safe."
“Well once my leg is fully healed, I’ll be a normal human being again, and since hunters can be anywhere, it would be best not to stay in one spot for too long,” Milles continued, “So I’m guessing that going from city to city is the best choice.”
She nodded, "Then I guess we're going from city to city." She looked at their stuff in her arms and then glanced up at him, "Can we at least get a sack or something to carry out stuff in? My arms will get tired if I have to carry this stuff constantly."
“Of course…. I think I should be good to go after tonight is over… depends on what my body wants.” He shrugged. “Meaning…. that if I’m a human by morning, then my leg has fully healed.” He smirked. In which I can’t wait to be a human again… I hate feeling this awkward by being a werewolf in public…
She smiled, "Then you'll finally be able walk around without having to hide that you're a werewolf." She looked around and started humming again, looking around as they walked.
"Sure thing…." He said quietly, huddling under his large blanket. And I hope tomorrow morning is that one morning….
Emmeline nodded and she continued walking, glancing at Miles every so often to make sure he was still there.
(What makes her think he'd walk off? Lol)
Miles kept walking along the path, and they came into a nice forest with lots of trees but sparse shrubbery. A small creek was running by the path – possibly one they passed the other day – and he slowed to a stop. "I'm thinking we should stop for the night. I'm not sure how far the next town is from here…." And I don't want to risk any red-eyed traveling….
(She's just paranoid at times lol)
"That sounds like another good idea," She said, looking over at the creek with a smile, "I could use another few hours of sleep anyway."
(Lol)
Miles went to the creek bank and sat himself down under a tree. "Maybe if we try hard enough we can catch some small fish or something….."
She followed him and sat down next to him, looking at the creek, "Maybe..Do you want me to try?" She yawned and set their things down, looking over at him.
"You seem tired…. I mean, you can try, but I don't know if you want to if you're nodding yourself off to sleep," He chuckled a bit. "It's also quite dark under all these trees…."
"I don't mind trying, if you want me to," She said, forcing her eyes to open more so that she looked more awake, "But if you think it can wait until morning I'll happily get some sleep.."
"Why don't you at least try it? I think it'll be fun to watch you splash around in the dark," Miles laughed, trying no longer to hold it in.
She nodded and smiled, rolling up her pant legs as she got up and walked to the creek. "Is there even fish in here?" She asked, looking back at him.
"I would assume there is… I don't know for sure…." Miles took his stuff off and got in the water without shame. The floor was nice and sandy and not incredibly murky and mushy. He shot his hand in the water, splashing water all over Emmeline. "See?" He took out a perch fish or whatever small fish live in creeks. "There's one right here."
A small squeak came from her when he splashed her and she smiled, dipping her hand in the water and flicking it at him with a nod. "I'll try my best," She said, wading into the water.
Miles shook his head, his ears flicking wildly. "Well alright then," He said, pretending to be unaffected by her splash. "Just make sure you don't get leeches on your hands and legs." He splashed her again, chuckling a rich laugh.
"I'll be ok," She said, laughing lightly as she looked down at the water. It was cold but not freezing as it ran over her legs, though she didn't see any fish quite yet.
