August jumped at the sound of the corner, blurting a what the hell?
"Woah," Cruz blinked.
A man in complete black fell with the roof and started toward Augustus. Sabine jumped in behind him, and he turned around.
"Stay away from them!!" Sabine growled at him. He laughed evilly. "Try and stop me slabovol'nyy chelovek.(Weakling in Russian)
Augustus backed away in confusion, "Whaaat is going on?"
Cruz was tense, finding he'd shofted his stance to prepare himself to defend Fae.
Sabine pulled out her daggers. She shouted at him, "Mne vse ravno, skol'ko agentov vy ubili, segodnya vy vstretili svoy match." He laughed. He lunged at her and they fought, almost perfectly matched.
Fae almost screamed as she saw the girl attack the man who had just dropped from the ceiling. Jumping down from her perch, she lunged forward, past Cruz, tackling the offender and bringing him down. Grace shot out from the back room, clawing at the man's face with her sharp little claws as Fae held him down, such a fierce, dangerous look in her large eyes than Fae could ever had imagined.
Sabine gasped, clutching her side. "Thanks." She pulled out a weird looking pair of handcuffs and put them on him. "Vy otvetite za svoi prestupleniya protiv TGR." She yanked him up out from under Fae, careful not to hurt her. The man laughed."ty sil'nyy." Sabine puched him in the face, knocking him out. "Yes. I am." She turned to Augustus. "I''m really sorry for the excitement, and, y'know. The roof." She gestured to the roof.
(By the way, everything she says in a different language will be Russian.)
"What— whaat?" He stammered, hands raised in bewildered confusion. Cruz wasn't much better than his stunned boss, jaw hanging open in shock.
Sabine's dad and another man(Director Axyl) entered the shop. "I can't believe you caught him. We've been trying for months." Axyl stated, impressed. "Well, I'm young and have lots of energy." She let her dad and Axyl take the man away. She turned to the other three people in the room. "I'll fix your roof."
August just had to walk away, arms raised while he tried to register this.
"Well.. thanks…" Cruz replied, tapping his chin.
(is there going to be a lot of action in this?)
Fae blinked, confused, as she got to her feet shakily. "Shouldn't we call 911?", she asked, gathering Grace up into her arms like a baby.
(I don't think so.)
"No no no." Sabina answered a little too quickly. "It's fine. My dad's a cop, he already took care of it."
Sabine looked Fae over and sighed. "V samom dele!!! Iz vsekh lyudey !!!" She shouted. "I'm sorry. I shout in Russian when I'm frustrated." Sabine explained. She surveyed the damage that had been caused. "It's not as bad as I thought."
(ok :D I just kinda have a thing for homey stories)
Fae nodded. "As long as nothing in the shop has been broken.", she replied. Looking upwards, she saw that a small part of the roof had caved in, thankfully landing away from any of the shelves and counter. Nothing besides the roof seemed to be broken. Turning to Cruz, she put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "You good?", she asked.
"Yeah, just confused as hell…" he breathed, "And a little upset,"
"Don't worry, nothing in the shop was broken, and no one was hurt.", she assured him.
"No, you just.." he half laughed, "Leapt into danger with no second thoughts…?" His eyebrow twitched, trying to pin down why he felt… offended, by her reaction.
(and the plot thickens ;)
Oh. Fae wasn't really sure what to feel about that. Hurt? Flattered? Angry? "I-I used to take martial arts.", she said unevenly. She spread her small wings. "These small wings aren't much good for flying, but perfect for added height or length in a jump." She shrugged, somewhat embarrassed. "I guess I acted on instinct."
He looked off to the side, "Oh." He exhaled, coming to grips with an internal conflict.
Fae's insides swirled with confusion. She felt a rush of relied as she saw Leum and Smudge flying shakily towards her, completely intact. Turning to the girl and the man, she asked: "How long will the repairs take?"
Sabine walked around the broken pieces of roof, surveying the damage more closely. She bent down and started to move the pieces around, searching for any magical residue.
"Only a few minutes, once I make sure that this is safe." Sabine frowned and pulled a little object out of the ruble.
Fae hugged her stomach, all three dragons perched on her head and shoulders, stepping a bit closer to Cruz. Indecision sat uncomfortably in her nauseous stomach.
Augustus emerged from the back clay room, speaking to his brother over the phone.
Cruz was uncharacteristically silent, eyes averted from her.
She looked up at him. "Hey." Fae stepped closer, rummaging around in her pocket and pulling out one of her father's rocky road fudge squares. "Want one? They calm the nerves.", she said, half-joking. Looking back at the man, she said. "Sir, do you have any identification? Maybe a police badge?', she asked.
Sabine's dad pulled out his police badge promptly. "Here you go." He handed it to her along with his phone, eager to prove to her he was trustworthy. Then he looked down at his daughter. "Is something wrong?" Sabine was still staring at the tiny object in her hand. "I'm not sure. Dani would know what this is." She stood up, turning the object around in her hand. "Do you guys have like a magnifying glass here?"
Fae studied them, looking up at Cruz fora comment.
Cruz kept his lips at a purse, occasionally exhaling an uptight sigh.
"Yeah, yeah, we have one in the back for painting," Augustus commented off his phone conversation.
"Who's Mr. Ponticelli speaking to?", Fae whispered to Cruz, handing him some fudge.
