Miles felt Emmeline sit up, and he shifted around, rolling over. "Five more minutes….." He mumbled. "No…. Make it five more hours…." This whole wound was really preventing him from living the lifestyle he needed, and if he didn't get enough sleep or make up for it, he was gonna pay the consequence. One of the largest concequences of staying in form for more than 10 hours at a time.
She nodded and rubbed her eyes, laying back down and curling up next to him. "A little longer should be fine.." She closed her eyes and sighed, "Just remind me to rewrap and put the ointment on your wound before we leave."
"Sure….. Thing….." He rested his snout on her, swiping his tongue across his nose. "Whatever you say…." He shifted around to produce more heat and finally settled back in again.
A small smile appeared on her face and she pulled her half of the blanket further onto herself. She started humming quietly as she drifted back off to sleep, staying as close to Miles as she could.
Miles wrapped his beastly arm around her to keep her closer. "Remember what I said…." He said softly. "….I do like you back….."
She tilted her head up and gave him a quick kiss, smiling softly as she did. "It's weird to think that I told you how I feel," She said, looking him in the eyes, "And it's crazy to think that you said you liked me back."
His tail thumped happily as she pecked him. "Well, it isn't far from the truth…." His ears rotated around. "Not far at all…." But don't you think you would think twice about kissing me and getting your mouth full of fur???
She nodded and just watched him, "How long do you think it's going to take for your leg to heal?" She asked, "With the help of the ointment." A small piece of hair was stuck in her mouth and she quickly took it out, wiping it away.
"Well, maybe a few days… Maybe several…. I'm not sure. But I have to make sure it's fully healed before I transform back into a human…." Sad but true….
"Alright," She said, "Do you want me to take care of your leg right now?" She grabbed the small bottle of ointment and looked at it, glancing over at him.
"Best to do it now than later…." He grumbled, pulling the blanket off his legs. He revealed his feet and legs for Emmeline to take care of. "Just make it quick…."
She nodded and scooted off the bed, grabbing the new bandages before sitting back down and gingerly pulling his leg towards her, "I don't know how much the ointment is going to sting on your wound, so be ready."
He winced. "Fine…." He growled, frowning. "The faster we get it on, then faster I can become human again…." Please don't let it sting bad… I don't have time to be killed….
She unwrapped the bandages carefully and looked at the wound, making sure that it wasn't infected before she opened the jar of ointment and took a little of the goop on her fingers. She started spreading it around and over the wound, bracing herself for Miles' reaction to it.
Miles bellowed out a roar. He didn't expect her to use so much, yet he couldn't help himself. His ears bent back and his tail lashed violently. "Dammit!!!!" He barked. The idea of someone coming in was the least of his concern at that point, although he even told himself that was top priority.
"Sorry," She said quickly, wincing as she finished spreading it around. Her fingers were covered in the medicine and she wiped them on her pants, grabbing the bandages as she started to wrap the wound back up, "I'm sorry."
Once she had the new bandages on he calmed down a bit, heavily breathing. "That was….." He panted, ears bent back. "Horrendously awful….." He let out a long breath and tossed the blanket aside. Screw those hunters…. That's why I'm suffering in the first place….
Emmeline looked up at him, "You're ok though, right?" She put the rest of the ointment away and looked around the room. "Do you think anyone heard you?" She asked, glancing at the door.
"You think anyone heard me….." He growled lowly. "I howled and barked and bellowed, and you wonder if people heard me?" He tried not to get on anyone's nerves, but it irritated him quite a bit that she couldn't see the obvious.
She looked at the floor, "I wasn't sure, I don't hear anyone coming to the door." A look like a little kid asking for forgiveness crossed her face and she looked up at him, "Do you want to leave here before someone comes to check what your howling was for?"
He let out an annoyed sigh. "I don't know, Emmeline… Maybe I should just…. Let things play out…." His tail drooped as he lied down on the bed. "If they find me, they find me…. And if they don't, well…. Lucky me."
"No," She shook her head, "I'm not letting you die, trust me when I say if they find us that I'll be dead before you." She stood up and stretched her arms out, starting to hum softly.
"…But they aren't looking to kill an innocent human being…." Miles whimpered, putting his head down. "Unless you force yourself… And as much as you don't want me to die, I don't want you to die either…."
She sat down on the bed and scooted close to Miles, "If they found us, and you were still hurt or even if you were better, the first thing I would do is fight, because you are more important than me in my eyes. You didn't choose to be a werewolf, or be hunted, so I'll protect you."
Miles just whined. He knew she was right, that he didn't choose to be what he was and that she would protect him. And I can't even stand up for myself like this…. He put his hands over his snout in shame. "I'm such a miserable person…."
Emmeline shook her head and leaned against him, "You're not though," she said softly, starting to him again.
Miles' tail swayed slowly. "But I am at the same time…." I could've stayed at my cabin…. We both could've carried out a nice life…. But then again, most of those towns were supporting the hunting of werewolves…. He sighed. "I just need my leg to heal so I can worry less about this issue…"
"It'll heal the fastest if you let it rest…but we don't have the time to let it heal." She sighed and rubbed the back of her neck, "We could just stay here until it healed, but there's the possibility that we could get caught."
"How could they find out?" Miles muttered. "They can't just… Break into our room, can they?" They better not… "Besides…. I know a few days sounds like a lot, but it's better than a week…."
Emmeline shrugged, "I don't know if they can break in..but I'll go crazy if I have to stay in this room for more than a few days." She looked around the room and put her head in her hands, groaning for a little bit before stopping and looking back up.
