Luke bit his lip, but decided to trust Shace, keeping at her side loyally. He hoped she knew what she was doing.

Valerie gave the other a girl a look. She had just done all of this, what was she trying to accomplish?

"I may not know the exact law, but my commander sure does. Both of you are coming with me now." Rheyna stated, casually dismissing the fact that she had no idea the exact law was.

Ivy's hood slipped off and she looked at the other 4 figures around her

Valerie scowled and looked to the guard, "No one is going anywhere. with anyone. I'll let you take the thief, but not the pureblood and his friend."

"I ain't a thief." She snapped

"Law requires that the officer announce exactly which law an offender has violated." Shaciel lowered her voice, staying put. "If you don't even know the exact law, me and Luke don't have to come with you. If you arrest us anyway and bring us to your commander, you'll be the one arrested, not to mention lack of evidence."

Rheyna crossed her arms. "Fine. You two are under arrest for climbing out a window and jumping off a building, as well as running from and attacking an officer." She sighed. "Is that good enough for you?"

"So self defense, something that's not illegal and another thing that isn't illegal?" Valerie corrected the guard.

"No." Shaciel took a step forward. "That's not a law. Climbing out a window and jumping off a building is never illegal, even if there happens to be a guard nearby. Running from an officer is not illegal if the officer has no reason to pursue. If the officer has no reason to pursue, 'attacking' is considered self-defense and is not illegal either. Especially if you have no injuries or proof anything ever happened." She spread her arms. "So, after you've chased us and threatened us more than once, I'd like to ask you to stop. Now."

"No! I'm not stopping!" Rheyna growled. "I know that the pureblood boy did something wrong! He's a pureblood, how could be possibly be good."

Valerie growled back at her, "Watch your tongue girl. Or you'll be in deeper trouble than you already are."

Luke’s ears drooped, his face reddening. Rheyna had a point. He definitely wasn’t a good citizen by any means.

"You're a halfblood!" Shaciel's voice grew louder as she took another step, deliberately drawing attention. "How can you possibly be good? We've killed twice as many people as purebloods. You're just as obsessed with status as you think they are. If you, my friend, are not going to stop, I'm going to make you, so please leave before I report you."

"I myself haven't killed anyone, just so you know." Rheyna replied. "And I'm not your friend."

Luke analyzed Rheyna. The officer seemed extra defensive, though he supposed she had been high strung during their first encounter. Something was missing. Luke had always been a thief, practically raised by them on the streets during his travels. And something… something here was missing. “Her badge.” He whispered swiftly to Shace. “She was wearing it earlier.”

Ivy watched the others while fixing her hood again.

Shace nodded silently at Luke. "Yeah, I know. So why are you still here."

Rheyna growled. "Stop whispering to each other." She reached for a weapon or handcuffs, but remembered that the commander had confiscated them. "Either follow me, or I'll have to drag you there."

Luke’s eyes caught the movement. “Where’s your weapon?” His ears had pricked to attention again as he scanned Rheyna over analytically.

"I lost it. Don't worry though, I still have my fists." Rheyna replied, slightly nervous that they would figure out that she was jobless before she could turn them in. I'm so close. I just need to bring them to the commander and he'll give me my job back.

“Lost your badge too?” Luke quipped, his ears twitching slightly as he stared at Rheyna. “Maybe a paycheck as well?”

"You don't know what you're talking about." Rheyna insisted, her eyes shooting daggers at Luke. "I'm going to tell you one last time to come with me."

“I know a soldier when I see one.” Luke’s ears flattened back, showing off some alarm. “Funny thing is, I don’t see one right now.”
