(I listened to almost the whole soundtrack a while ago, although I haven't watched it yet. I have to admit, I was skeptical at first but it's very entertaining XDD)

Esme stepped out of the portal and closed it behind her. "I mostly chose this place because it's secluded and not too far out of our way. We probably won't stay here too long, but feel free to have a look around while I consult my map." She pulled a folded piece of paper out of her pocket and started to check it carefully.

“There’s not much to look at here,” Maddie said, “Unless there’s something interesting that you know about round here.”

"Well, this used to be a gold mine," Esme said without looking up. "So if you're feeling lucky you could go explore those buildings over there. Maybe you'll find some long-dead miner's secret treasure-trove."

Maddie shook her head a little with a smile, “I doubt it. It’s probably All gone.”

Luke gave her a sidelong grin. "We might find some bones, though. Who knows? There could be all kinds of creepy stuff around here….."
Esme snorted. "That is more likely. I'm detecting at least one patch of restless energy nearby, probably from a worker who kicked the bucket down in the mines before it went out of business."

“Oh, how great, dead bodies. Well, kinda. I wonder how many skeletons are down there…” Maddie shivered over dramatically, “Creepy.”

Luke laughed. "I know, terrifying. Thanks, but I still think living enemies are worse than dead ones." He glanced over at one of the buildings and blinked. "Oh hey, look, a cat."
Sure enough, there was a scrawny black cat staring at them from the building's dark doorway. It gave a scratchy meow.

“Aww…” Maddie smiled and looked at the animal, “I haven’t seen a cat in ages.”

It padded towards them, its green eyes glinting in the sunlight. Purring loudly, it brushed against Maddie's ankles. Its ribs showed through its matted fur, and there were burrs stuck in its tail and ruff.

(by the way guys, sorry I haven't been on in a while, I don't know about you but I've been feeling stretched pretty thin lately between stuff on here and stuff in the outside world…I really want to get back to this, and the rp with you, Carrots, since you guys are the only people I interact with on here, but maybe not quite yet. Hope you're both doing well :) )

The cat bumped its head against Nathan's hand, then sat back and yawned widely. As it did so, it almost seemed to blur and become fuzzy around the edges, as if it was made of black static. Then it closed its mouth and the effect was gone.
From her seat on a rock, Esme stiffened and looked up. "What was that?"

Nathan looked up towards Esme. "You mean the cat?" He stroked the cat: it was solid, that was for certain. "Not sure. It's like it lost focus for a second."
