Her heart raced, and she blushed furiously. "I-I… Uh, y-you can…"

IT'S NOT WORKING. "Good. Favorite Hamilton song?"

She swallowed nervously and blurted not her favorite song, but the song that first came into her head: "Helpless."

Nicky hummed a bit of the song. "I absolutely adore Wait For It."

"Me too," she said quietly.

Nicky was screaming in his head. "Lin Manuel is a genius, managing to rhyme inimitable and make it sound good in a song."

"Exactly," she whispered.

The lemonade was definitely stirred now, but Nicky really didn't want to move. "Favorite musical song ever?"

"You're killing me, Nicky," she whispered.

"Huh?"

"What are you doing?"

"I'm not sure I understand the question." The lie was evident in his voice.

"I hate liars," she whispered into his hair.

He choked, face heating up. "I-I don't know what you're-urgh."

"Yes you do, shut up," she sighed. "Seriously, Nicky, what's wrong?"

"I-uh-fuck, definitely not out here." He spoke hurriedly, stuttering.

"What?" she asked, getting very confused.

"Er-come with me." He grabbed her hand and took the spoon from her, setting it down, and pulling her out onto the back patio.

"Oh!" she cried. "Nicky, what's wrong?"

He slid the door shut, and the others very politely looked away from the door as he turned to Laura, face bright red and running his hands through his hair. "I-er-um…really like you? Like really really and it's driving me nuts-"

She blushed furiously. "M-Me? You… Y-You like me?"

"W-well yeah. That's why I invited you over, and I kept trying to distract myself by asking you questions…"

"O-Oh…" She stammered. "Th-Then… why did you bring me out here?"

"I-in case you hadn't noticed, that's not the type of thing I want to confess with Aaron in the room. Plus…"
