"Oh my God!" she cried, another wave of pain washing over her. She was nearer to the door now… She was almost there in fact. "John!"
"Oh my God!" she cried, another wave of pain washing over her. She was nearer to the door now… She was almost there in fact. "John!"
Chadine blinked, "Oh, that's your wife callin' fer us!" The woman chirped with startled realization. John threw the horse brush off to the side, and jogged quickly to the mansion door.
"Damn," Jane muttered to herself under her breath. "John! Chadine!"
Her husband opened the door. "Jane, I'm here! What's wrong?" He hurried down to her side, touching her arm with wide-eyed worry.
"I'm going to have our baby," she explained breathlessly.
John blinked, half smiled. "I'm sorry.. what?"
"John!" she cried, reaching out and grabbing his arm tightly. "I… am having… our baby!"
XD)
He blinked twice, and luckily the soldier had enough life experience never to spend more than a fraction of a second recoiling with a bit of surprise before taking brisk action and carrying his labouring wife to the bedroom. "I'll get Chadine," he spoke breathlessly, "You'll be fine for a second?"
She nodded, her breathing turning ragged and clipped.
Her husband laid her in bed, she heard Chadine come through the front door. John called her in from the bedroom, luckily in hardly any time at all. Chadine shooed John to the fringes of the room for now, so Chadine—who had delivered many babies for wome before—could do her work. "Jane, how are you feeling?" She asked.
Jane closed her eyes. "I'm not sure."
(Because I suck at writing…)
XD well basically, what I know:
"Well, you're between contractions then, I expect. Cherish the break while you can," Chadine spoke.
Jane opened her mouth to speak, but a sudden yell came out instead.
"Oh, yikes," Chadine laughed, "Let it all out, honey," she encouraged, keeping a hand on the woman's stomach to feel the unborn infant's movement.
John watched from afar, pale and nervous.
Jane's head leaned back, and she moaned.
"Mr. André, go get a rag, n' some water." Chadine requested—the man promptly left.
Jane screamed again as the pain came quicker and was much worse.
"Oh, milord." Chadine sputtered, "Deep breaths, Jane," she lectured.
She tried to do as Chadine said, but her inhales were sharp and ragged.
Chadine took the rag John brought, wet it, and wiped Jane's forehead clean. "Deep breaths.."
Jane continued to try, but her lungs wouldn't listen.
"Is she okay?" John asked fearfully. Chadine simply hushed the desperate husband.
Slowly, the pain subsided. Jane knew it would be back soon, so she took the opportunity to even out her breathing.
"Are you okay, love?" John took the liberty to approach, scooping up Jane's trembling hand.
"Not particularly," she breathed, a smile working onto her face.
He leaned in and kissed her face, "You're such a strong, beautiful woman.."
"Could you choose to compliment me when I am not birthing our child?" She tried to keep a straight face, but visibly melted after he kissed her.
"Hah–! I'm, just nervous," John replied shakily. "I'm not used to seeing you in so much pain,"
She shook her head, a subtle smile on her lips. "Then you might not want to stay."
"But I want to be here for you, at the same time," he sputtered nervously.
