Bailey looked down to George's face, wearing his light smile, "They turned out fine, though.."
George loved this softer side of Bailey, the gentler, caring one. He lifted a hand to cup one of his cheeks, a smile ghosting over his expression. “I’m glad… were you okay?”
"Yeah, I was fine. Pissed as all hell, though." Bailey laughed quietly, resting his head against George's hand.
“Of course..” he murmured, a quiet laugh mingling with each word he spoke.
"You know, I want to visit Spain before I die." Bailey spoke.
“Then we’ll visit Spain together,” he murmured. Somehow..
"Okay. So. What are we doing today?"
George frowned a little, trying to think. “I have to be at the tavern in a few hours..”
"I could help?" Bailey offered.
George gave a nod. “Please?”
"Maybe.. snatch a drink or two." He teased.
George swatted at his shoulder. “Bailey!”
"What?" He bubbled with laughter, eyebrows lifting. "Does that bother you?"
“Behave,” George chuckled, “Don’t get drunk… again.”
"Hah! George.. you sweet man. Have you ever seen a regiment before?" Bailey teased. "Nothing is more entertaining than drilling a group of hungover or already drunk men at seven in the morning."
George let out a short laugh, but his face quickly grew serious. “Bailey… if you get drunk… and this gets out…”
"This?" Bailey echoed. "This, as in us?"
"Us," George corrected, "I just want to be careful…"
He sat up, "George. If I made any of this known, both of us would be hung. If not lynched first," Bailey spoke with a firm seriousness. "I'm not that stupid,"
"I–I didn't mean to say that you were." George grew timid, afraid that he had offended the other.
He sat back. "I've never given up any secrets. Never."
"I—I'm sorry…" he murmured, averting his eyes.
"don't apologize, please." He sighed.
George bit back another apology. "Alright."
He hugged him loosely.
George sank into the embrace, releasing a satisfied sigh.
