“He assaulted you, Kasey,” Barry persisted, “I’m not going to let that go. I’ll.. talk to him. For now.”
“He assaulted you, Kasey,” Barry persisted, “I’m not going to let that go. I’ll.. talk to him. For now.”
“As long as you don’t hurt him,” Kasey murmured, squeezing his hand gently. “But thank you for standing up for me.”
“I’ll… do my best not to punch him. That’s all I can promise.” Barry chuckled dryly. “And it’s no problem at all.”
“That’s all I’m asking for,” Kasey chuckled softly.
“I’m never going to stop telling you how much I love you,” he whispered, pressing another kiss to her forehead.
Kasey smiled and pressed her lips to his cheek. “I love you, too,” she murmured against him.
“I’m glad,” he murmured fondly. For a moment, he hesitated, as if about to voice a question, but he shut his mouth before it could slip out.
“You good?” Kasey asked softly, pulling back to look at him with gentle eyes.
Barry nodded absently, chewing on his lower lip. I’ll save the question for later..
Kasey sighed and lifted her hand to cup his cheek again, her gaze flickering over his face. When her eyes finally landed on his, she let herself get lost in them for a while.
"Have I ever told you how much I love your eyes?" she murmured softly, rubbing gentle circles on his cheek with her thumb.
A smile tugged at his lips.
"You have," he murmured, "But I enjoy hearing you say it, anyways. Yours are more beautiful…. breath-taking."
Kasey rolled her eyes with a smile, playfully pinching his cheek. "I think not, but let's not argue about who has the nicest eyes. I'd prefer to talk about what we're doing for breakfast this morning… I'm thinking pancakes? Lots and lots of pancakes… And chocolate. Chocolate chip pancakes and chocolate syrup…"
“Yes please…” Barry’s smile widened a fraction. “And ice cream. Double fudge.”
"We can eat all the ice cream in the freezer," Kasey declared with a light laugh, wrapping her arms around his waist and holding on tight. A sudden burst of affection ran through her, and she let out a deep sigh, looking at Barry lovingly. She chewed on her lip as she studied him, debating if whether what she wanted to do was a good idea or not…
“Kase?” He whispered her name in askance, studying her eyes. “Is something wrong?”
Kasey shook her head slowly, a blush starting to coat her cheeks as she smiled at him. "No, no. Nothing's wrong… I just— Kiss me? Please?" she breathed softly.
Barry didn’t hesitate.
A split second later, his lips were claiming hers, kissing her with such soft passion that his weak heartbeat quickened drastically.
Kasey sighed into his mouth before she kissed him back, her lips pressing against his. She moved her arms from around his waist to around his neck, pulling him in closer as her eyes closed tightly. She'd missed this. The talking and relaxing and kissing… It had been an empty month without it all.
He squeezed his eyes shut, winding his arms around her skin form. As usual, she fit perfectly in his embrace.
I missed this.. he transmitted, not wanting to disrupt the kiss. On his jawline, the little heart tattoo flared pink. I missed you.
Me, too. I missed it, too, Kasey responded silently, glad for the power she had as she ran a hand up to run her fingers through his hair. It was really helpful to be able to converse silently, especially if you were trying to kiss someone… I missed you, too.
Barry pulled away, his lips tingling from the prolonged contact. A small smile ghosted over his lips. “Hungry? Let’s eat.”
Kasey sighed when he pulled away, letting her eyelids slowly block open. She gave Barry a small smile back and hugged him tighter.
"All right, sure. Would you like to help me make them?" she offered before letting him go so she could finally get out of bed and stand.
“I’ll do my best,” he murmured, scooting to the edge of the bed. “But I’m afraid my gourmet chef skills might not be up to scratch.”
"It's not hard, babe," Kasey said with a light laugh. "Plus, I'll be there to help you if you need it."
Barry chuckled and braced his hands on either side of his thighs. It took a few tries, but eventually, he managed to stand, though he was unsteady on his feet.
Kasey watched him carefully as he tries to stand and quickly made her way back over to offer him her hand when she noticed his unsteadiness. "How are you feeling?" she asked quietly.
Barry wrapped his fingers around hers, offering a wobbly smile. “I’ll be just fine.” He did his best not to lean on her as they started for the kitchen, but their pace was frustratingly slow.
Kasey signed and moved his arm to wrap it around her. "But how are you now? Are you in any pain?"
Each step he took felt as if he were treading on needles.
“Only a tiny bit. Which is to be excepted, right?”
"What would be expected is if you were in a lit of pain," Kasey murmured gently as they stepped into the kitchen. "And if you were dizzy and/or light headed because of the blood loss."
