"Raf, I'm fine, I'm not a ghost." Tyler laughed, running a hand through his hair and taking Macha's with his other.

"When did you get back??" the dumbstruck man demanded.

"Around 12 I think. A few hours ago." Tyler told him. "Do you want to stay for dinner?"

Rafael blinked in bewilderment. "Do I want to stay for dinner with my best friends, one of which has been gone for months?? What do you think, Tyler?"

Tyler laughed and shrugged. “I assumed you would stay anyway, so what’s the harm in asking.”

Babbling incoherently in Spanish, Rafael swung inside, grinning like a madman the whole time.

Tyler closed the door behind him and went back to making dinner. "Do you need anything, Raf?" He asked, nudging him towards the living room.

“Information!” He practically yelled in excitement. “How did you get out early? How have you been? Are you okay? Emotionally or physically scarred??”

“I’m fine now. It’s a long story, and I’m not really sure about the emotionally scarred thing yet.” Tyler told him.

Rafael paused. “Please, Tyler…” he murmured, “You were barely back for a few days before they sipped you off to that place. I want to hear how you’ve been.”

"I'm okay, really. You don't have to worry about me." Tyler replied, his back to Raf as he made the food, not wanting to admit to him that whatever he was feeling in the back of his mind, it wasn't good.

“Tyler…” he pleaded quietly, reaching for his best friend. “C’mon. Tell me one thing?”

“I don’t know what you want to hear.” Tyler said, continuing to avoid his question.

Rafael sighed, casting a helpless look towards Macha, who merely shook her head.

"Go sit down, it'll be ready in a minute." Tyler told him, forcing a small smile back on his face.

Rafael nodded, and Macha cautiously approached Tyler.

Tyler stopped to kiss the top of her head as he walked by to get plates. “Hi.” He murmured, carefully avoiding eye contact.

Macha placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, but said nothing, a silent show of support.

Tyler took her hand and pressed it gently against his lips, taking a deep breath and returning a smile to his face. “You’re the best, Macha. Did you know that?” He told her quietly.

Macha slipped her hand over his cheek and stood on her tiptoes, pressing a kiss to his lips.

Tyler truly smiled this time against her lips, kissing her back just slightly.

Macha pulled away after a moment, giving him a comforting squeeze on the shoulder. “Go on…” she murmured, “Your best friend is waiting..”

Tyler sighed and wrapped his arms gently around Macha. "But I want to stay with you…"

Macha pressed a kiss to his nose. “Later, love. He misses you.”

"I know, I'll go." Tyler said, giving her a small squeeze and kiss on the cheek before leaving the kitchen.

Rafael was quietly conversing with Morrigan when his best friend re-entered the room. Immediately, his whole face lit up.

Tyler sat down nearby, smiling as well at the look on Rafael’s face. He waited before saying anything, not wanting to interrupt their conversation.

Morrigan gave a slight nod and rose from her seat, giving the two boys a moment alone.

Tyler looked down slightly, twisting his hands in his lap. “I’m sorry about being so vague earlier. I’m just kind of dazed and these last couple months have been kind of blurry.”
