"I should at least turn off the oven, darling. Really don't want the house burning down while we're out."

"Good idea!" Trini yelled as she walked upstairs.

Noah rolled his eyes with a laugh and untied the apron, draping it over a chair. He turned the oven off just before the timer sounded and set the muffin tin to cool on top of the counter.

Trini walked back downstairs, leash over her arm. Athena bounded up to her, tail wagging.

"Let's go adventuring!" He shouted like a little kid, pumping a fist in the air.

"Omigod I married a four year old," Trini joked as she put Athena's leash on.

"I'm a bit too hot for a four year old, but I appreciate not being called old."

"If you keep saying it, maybe it'll come true." She stood up, Athena's wagging tail softly hitting her leg.

"Who says it ain't? There had to be some reason for you to marry me." He took a few steps forward and leaned down to pet Athena enthusiastically.

"Oh, so you just assumed I married you because of you looks?"

"Well it was the most likely option." He joked.

Trini rolled her eyes, smiling. "I love you."

"Love you too, darling." He stood, and kissed her on the cheek.

"Let's go then," Trini said, and walked out the door.

He followed with a grin, locking the door behind him.

After a short 10 minute walk, they reached the local shelter. The shelter was where you went to get pets. Sure, they had rescued and abandoned animals, but you could also get animals that had been given by a breeder because they had problems, or just because the breeder had too many in a litter.

Noah was practically buzzing in excitement, a bounce in his step.

"Dude, calm down. You can be excites when we're inside the shelter."

"But I'm excited now!"

Trini rolled her eyes as she opened the door, walking in after Noah.

Noah was blabbering insanely fast about types of animals and 'imprinting', looking around in awe.

"Let's go to the dogs first. We can go get a kitten later."

He nodded. "God, the hardest part is going to be naming them."

"Most of them will be rescues," Trini replied. "Athena was a rescue. I didn't name her. She'd been abandoned as a puppy."

"Older dogs are more likely to already have and be answering to a name…" He mused. "We should try and get an older dog. Nobody ever adopts them."

"People do adopt them. But then they get abandoned because they're too old."

"Well yeah, but that isn't nice." Noah said with a frown, looking around.

"How 'bout you get an old dog, and I get a relatively young dog."

"Works for me!"

"And I get a kitten. Not you."
