"It's one of the old ones–It's a long story." Marla shoved the cursed deck beneath her mattress and got unsteadily to her feet,

“This is insane, right?” Gwen rubbed her forehead, still sitting on the ground.

"Y-Yeah," she whispered, wiping her eyes. "And it's my fault…." Suddenly, an idea entered her mind. "I–I should burn them. So nothing happens to anyone else."

“No, Marla.” Gwen shook her head. “I’m not letting anything happen to you. We’ll get through this together. Is there any way to unbind you from the deck?”

Deleted user

“Cards it is.” Gwen sighed. “You’re not alone anymore Marla. We can handle this.”

Deleted user

“Marla, please.” Gwen looked up at her girlfriend, chewing her lower lip. “I can’t lose you.”

Deleted user

“No, no. Princess, you should first. Take your time.” Gwen insisted, giving Marla’s hand a squeeze.

Gwen sat down on Marla’s bed, still too shocked to process what just happened. She could hardly think at the moment. It was too much to take in all at once.

Marla stood in the shower, eyes closer as the cold water ran over her pale skin, washing it clean of crimson, wiping her conscience clear of dark secrets, if only for a moment.

Gwen flopped onto Marla’s bed, staring up at the ceiling in a daze.

(Maybe Gwen can take her down to the farms to try and get their minds off what just happened?)

Deleted user

(Great! Should they talk first? Or should we start at the farm?)

Gwen didn’t think she’d ever get used to the smell of manure. But here they were, at the very beginning of the large farmlands. Rolling meadows sprawled outwards, small buildings dotting the hillsides. The the distance a large forest claimed the edge of the skyline. “Alright, here we are!” She forced a little extra enthusiasm into her voice. “What do you want to see? The creatures or the animals?”

@blue_topaz

“What’s the difference?” Maria asked, doing her best to sound marginally less numb than what had become normal for her over the past few days. She allowed her eyes to skin the horizon, taking in the rolling fields.

“Uh… well. Do you want to pet a cow or a peryton?” Gwen smiled at Marla, feeling more comfortable in this natural setting.

Deleted user

“A peryton? I er— I think you need to see one, they’re sort of hard to explain. They’re real sweethearts though.” Gwen started heading towards the forest in the distance.

Deleted user

“Okay… they’re pretty easily spooked so try not to make to much noise. They should come up to you on their own in a bit.” Gwen lead Marla into a forest clearing, sitting down in the middle. Rustling could be heard above in the trees.

@blue_topaz

Marla nodded slowly, pushing her hair out of her eyes. "Noise won't be a problem…." she murmured, turning in a full circle to get a good look at the forest around her.
