"Sadly, yes, I do know that. It's a common thing for me to do, so I do apologize in advance." Melanie sighs, and leans against the wall. "And now I'm stuck here, bored out of my mind with freaked-out people who probably have much better lives than me, and I bet you're-nevermind, I don't know if I can compare you to me. Yep, this is my pessimistic life."

Deleted user

"Seriously? Melanie, you're much better than me! You can see the universe, really see it. You're gifted. The stars themselves can't compare to you, much less me!" he exclaimed.

Deleted user

"I have high doubts, but fine" Melanie stands, and has a slight smile on her face. "Better calm down this crowd anyways," she gestures to the group of people, some whom are panicked.
"Okay, everyone!" Melanie yells, "So, we don't know if they're gone or not-and it's not the best idea to go out there and find out, so we'll probably have to wait this out. How, I don't really know, but please, everyone stay calm. In the meantime, plan for us staying here tonight, so that means blankets and other soft objects, and we'll hope for the best!"

Deleted user

"Exactly. Also, if anyone has any idea as to what's going on here, we need all the information we can get if worst comes to worst." he said somberly.

Deleted user

"And between all of us, I think it's best that the Doctor and I look out, probably in shifts, seeing as we've seen these things." And wouldn't panic as they would. "I'll volunteer for the first watch, I'm a heavy sleeper, and I usually don't like being woken up." Melanie smiled shyly.
(Also, can I compliment you?

  1. You do an amazing job writing/speaking as the Doctor
  2. This RP is probably one of the only ones where I can't wait to continue it! I'm probably going to see if I can watch Docter Who at all.)

The Doctor didn't actually sleep all that much, Time Lords only needed a few hours each week, but he decided to take this time to talk to the others, find out what they knew. "Ah, Tobias, was it? Tell me, since your friend seems to be, er, our of it at the moment and your other seems unable to talk… you seem to be less scared than the others, but not in the way Melanie might be. Like you know more than you're telling. I promise, I won't bring it up with the others, you can go on living your life. Just tell me what I need to know, so we can all get out of here safely." he smiled. Tobias just turned away, looking out the window. Nothing was out there so far, but you could hear a faint growling. "Listen, I don't know nothing, okay? Besides, of all the people we could suspect, you're the biggest one!" he stood up from his position of leaning against the counter, fists clenched. "You get off on this! You come in here, oh so posh and all, like you own the place, and next these… things attack!" he shouted.

(Aww, thanks! I do some voice acting as well as improv in my daily life, that's probably why I find it easy to get into character lol. hides stash of fanfictions she's been editing to get characters more into character yeah, that's probably the only reason. And I'm glad this is an intriguing plot, I'm actually using one of my own life experiences for this. No, I wasn't attacked by space lizards, but I did get stuck in an elevator once with a bunch of strangers. The elevator kept creaking and groaning, it was an old thing, and when we finally got out [it was only 45 minutes before help arrived, thank God. I've heard people get stuck for days at a time sometimes] I kept going over the experience in my head, and eventually wrote a little thing based off it.)

(Oh, also, sorry for the late replies. I'm really busy most days, lol. Sorry!)

(It's fine!)
Melanie, after pacing for a while around the diner, eventually gets bored and slouches in the booth that she ate in, and sighed, "Who knew watching over people could be so boring?" Melanie stifles a yawn, "And maybe tiring…"

Deleted user

"Tobias, I want you to calm down, now. You're-" he was cut off at Tommy playing an upbeat rhythm on his stylophone. "Oh, for goodness sake." Tricia sighed, getting up. "He's been acting weird ever since he got that damn thing! Toby, you can tell the man! Doctor, you… well, Tobias is right of course." she said, slightly unsure. "I can see this line of inquiry will prove fruitless." he said. The Doctor left them, then walked over to Melanie. "I can take the watch from you if you'd like, you must be exhausted."

Deleted user

"Wake me if the world burns down," Melanie jokes. "Seriously though, wake me up if there is an immediate danger." Melanie lays in the booth, with the Doctor's coat serving as a blanket (I think she still has that, right?) and her feet almost touching the floor. Within a few minutes, she's lightly snoring.

Deleted user

(Yeah)

The Doctor sat down at the bar, watching the room with careful eyes. Tommy began to play his stylophone, causing discomfort to his fellows. Come to usssss…. we can take you away…. the Only Ones…. an ethereal voice hissed, so faint one could barely hear it. But the Doctor did, of course. "What was that? Tommy?" he rushed over to the man, making a reach for the stylophone. "Ouch!" the Doctor exclaimed when his hand was roughly slapped away. "Oh, just leave him." Tricia said, but she looked slightly scared. "He won't let it go either way, who cares?" Tobias asked with a gruff tone of voice.

Deleted user

(Wait, can Melanie hear it? I want her to, so I'm gonna just say she does)
Melanie mumbles something, and jerks awake. After looking around frantically, she speed walks over to the Doctor, "Okay, I just had some freaky-ass nightmare, and I doubt you know nothing about what that demonic whatever-it-was said." Melanie brushes her hair with her hands, getting rid of some of the knots in her hair. "And I thought I saw it all…" Melanie sighs, putting her hands to her forehead. "And I have a massive headache right now."

Deleted user

(gtg, I'll be back on Monday most likely, maybe sometime over the weekend)

Deleted user

(Okay!)
"Allow me to hazard a guess. I think I know the source of our problem." the Doctor looked over to their rogue stylophone player.

Deleted user

"Who, Tommy? He's just a civilian minding his own business!" Melanie was still a bit groggy and still was skeptical of the Doctor, even after seeing the iron-scaled creatures. "I think you've lost your mind, Doctor…" Melanie shook her head. "Tell me when you find out the real cause of the problem." Melanie sat on a bar stool, rubbing her temples.

Deleted user

"Not him exactly…. Tommy, just tell me about the stylophone." the Doctor said gently. "No, I'm not to trust you. The Only Ones say you're bad." Tommy defended, clutching stylophone to chest.

Deleted user

"Doctor, do you realize just how… just how stupid this is? You're accusing someone you barely even know, and plus, he could just be one of those kinds of weirdos-no offence-who's overprotective over his…whatever you said it was. I mean, couldn’t he be somewhat out of it? Again, no offense, I’m just trying to make a point here." Melanie sighs, and rubs her eyes, looking incredulously at the Doctor.

Deleted user

"Well of course it's stupid, you don't come to conclusions using logic now do you?" he asked. Everyone stared, giving a communal this-guy-is-crazy glance.

Deleted user

(gtg)
"You should be saying that to yourself, Doctor. This is me being nice." Melanie looked at him and whispered, "I suggest you not act like a weirdo and just, I don't know, be normal"

Deleted user

(Okay)
"Melanie, Melanie, Melanie, this is my normal. Take it or leave it, you've got it either way." he said mock-cheerfully.

Deleted user

"I swear if you say my name like that, I will…" Melanie thinks before blurting, "I don't know what I'll do, but I'll do something! Oh my God, I have no idea how I put up with your normal because yours and mine are way different! I'm assuming the same with everyone else here, too, right? Because you, right now," Melanie pointed to the Doctor, "are acting like a crazy person!"

Deleted user

"Well, I'm absolutely sure I must be insane. It would explain a lot. But we don't have time to… of course," he chuckled slowly, "of course we have time. All the time in the universe. You need to trust me, Melanie. But I'm not quite normal, not by anyone's standards. In time I hope you'll allow me my eccentricities. Sometimes they're all I or the world has got." he sighed. "Oi, lover's lane, we still have to deal with the things!" the blond woman, Pat, grumbled.

Deleted user

"You're the most-Okay, look. I don't know who or what you are, but what the hell are you saying? Are you really saying that I'll be friends with you or something?" Melanie frantically scratched at her scalp, scratching off dandruff, then brushed her straight hair back to where it was usually, tucked behind her ears. "Right. We still have those fucking things out there, I think. Um, what's the game plan? Because I don't want to spend the rest of my life in this room with you, no offense."

Deleted user

"Of course not, you're an incorrigible, stubborn little girl, far too annoying for me to bother with. And please don't swear," his voice took on a cold edge. "The kiddo does have a point. How're we gonna get out of here?" the trucker, Max, grunted. It seemed the only sound he was capable of making, because using stereotypes of Americans when you yourself, the author, are American, is fun.

Deleted user

(Okay lol!)
"If I weren't in a room filled with people, I'd probably strangle you the second you said that." Melanie huffed, jeering a glance at the Doctor that was anything but friendly. "And what was with you being all positive, saying that I could travel the stars? I'll take into consideration the whole swearing thing, but I'm not keeping any promises."

Deleted user

(Self deprecating humor! Because I'm dead inside… lol, I'll be fine. Probably.)

"Oh, you have potential, but you're wasting it of course. Now, let's just get out of here then, I suppose, and we'll all go about our lives like nothing happened. All in favor?" he said.

Deleted user

(Sorry about the shift in time of the Doctor's additude, I kinda just want to bring out his Anxiety Snark that you find in the audio dramas a lot.)

Deleted user

(Ah, it's fine)
"How do we know that those metallic-scaled freaks aren't out there? What if we go out there and we all die from them because we weren't too careful? Don't just assume that it's all fine and dandy, because we're obviously not!" Melanie gets up and storms to the booth, grabbing the Doctor's coat and walking back. "I'm assuming you want this back." Melanie puts it on the bar's countertop, not waiting for a response, and after walking back to the booth and sitting down, Melanie covers her head with her arms, cursing under her breath.

(I'm sorry! My wifi kicked out for two days, but I'm here now!)
The Doctor accepted his coat back without a fuss, then went to the kitchen to see if he could make some tea. "She's a good fit, really. Strong willed, calm in a crisis, even if a little hot-headed. I like her." a young woman, British, with short-cut blond hair, a round, plump face, and eyes the colour of heather and smoke. "I know, I just… I promised not to travel with anyone else. You know how it ends up! I hurt people! Like you." he said, swinging the kettle around and slamming it on the already abused stovetop. "Doctor, it wasn't your fault. I chose to leave, it was all on me, and you have no right to beat yourself up over it." she glared. The girl glided over, feet not touching the ground, and she gained a sort of transparency, a loss of substance. "Doctor, it's time you stop talking to the ghost of an old friend. I'm not real, this is just your imagination." she said. "Can't I pretend for a little while?" he asked, but the figure was gone, and there was a lack of teabags and thus, no tea. He sat down against the wall, chin to chest, and wondered what to do.

"So, lover's quarrel, eh? Yeah, me and my ex used to fight like cats." Pat sat down in the seat across from Melanie. "We broke up recently, just a month ago. He said I should go to hell, I guess this is close enough." she shrugged.
