"Can we maybe, I don't know, go?"
"Can we maybe, I don't know, go?"
Jordan was waiting silently at the back
Isaac nodded. "Yeah, let's book it before someone catches us."
"Probably be best. If he doesn't check in, they're gonna come lookin'."
Jackson rolls his eyes and lips away, down the hall, "Y'all are too slow."
Tempest stuck her tongue out at him and raced in front.
"Hey! Out of my way." He pushes past her
Talia giggled softly, shaking her head as she walked near the back of the group.
"There's another guard change at 2:30, since this is an exit. It's currently," Arme paused, glancing at her watch. "2:07. Let's get a move on." She started to walk a steady pace towards the double doors, slightly behind Jackson and Tempest. Her posture was straight as a board, and hands tucked behind her back.
Esme tucked the wallet into her back pocket and brought up the rear.
Isaac nodded, walking alongside Arme. "When'll we run into another guard? Anytime soon?"
Jordan (sorry I got mixed up on the names) quickly fell behind again.
“How do you know all this again?” Sebastian asked Arme. “Because you have certainly done your research.” He trailed the group, not wanting to fall behind.
"Nope," Arme glanced back at Sebastian, a wicked smirk on her face. "And that's for me to know and for you to not find out." She had spent long hours studying the guards changing, losing countless hours of sleep. That, and trading bits and pieces about the others for information with the guards.
“Oh, come on.” Sebastian smiled playfully at Arme. “Please? For me, Arme?”
Arme raised an eyebrow at his words. Who did he think he is? My friend? "No," she said, her voice cold. She wasn't about to share one of her secrets with someone she hardly knew. Nearing the doors, she found that in order to open them, they needed the guard's pass. "Esme, right? There should be an ID card in his wallet, we need it to get through."
Esme pushed to the front of the group and handed her the card. "Figured. He had a decent amount of cash in his wallet too. Horrible idea when working here."
"Thanks," Arme took the card and quickly swiped it, granting the group access to the world again. Pushing open the doors with a wide smile, a soft breeze carried through. It was still night out, the dark sky being evident of that, and if she squinted, she could see the city lights shining brightly in the distance.
Esme nodded, stepping out. Her gaze when to the sky and her demeanor relaxed a bit, the smoke from her still lit cigarette drifting up.
Jordan limps out and nearly trips because of the uneven ground
"Careful there."
Talia followed them out, smiling at the lights in the distance, "Where are we heading to now?" She asked, looking to Arme.
"Payphone." Esme stated, stubbing out her cigarette on the back of her hand and tucking it behind her ear.
"Who could you possibly be calling?" Sebastian asked, stuffing his hands in the pocket of his jacket.
"Like I said, an old friend."
"What old friend?"
"The guy who's family took me in after my mother ditched and dear old dad was murdered." She said simply.
"He seems like a good enough guy to not try and turn us in. I say go for it." Isaac replied, breathing in the fresh air.
"Thanks for the approval."
"I-. Dont trust him but." He was going to say something about dying but decided not to
