(Haha well Luke's one of my best, so I get it XD)
"I dunno," Esme said, peeking into the kitchen briefly before heading down the hall. "Just some house. I found it a few years ago and I use it as a place to stay sometimes. It must be in a pretty bad neighborhood if nobody's fixed or sold it yet."
"All the better for us, right?" He swallowed and opened his eyes. "I'm gonna go get changed."
He walked into a the brightest hallway he could find and randomly entered s room.
Luke found a room next to Nathan and could be heard snooping around after a moment. "This does look like a nice place to crash," he said, his voice muffled. "Maybe too good, though. I'll bet lots of rough types spend the night here when they can."
Nathan heard Luke in the room next door talking to himself. He didn't question it, though. He'd learned to trust the guy.
He sat on the edge of an old bed frame and buried his head in his hands, inhaling the familiar smell of rotting wood and dust bunnies. It wasn't a pleasant smell on its own, but it was the memories that came with it Nathan clung to. A silver lining if ever there was one.
He grabbed some clothes and got changed, sensing a moment of weakness coming on. Before he could do anything stupid, he walked back to the girls.
Esme was already changed and waiting, eating something that crunched loudly while gazing out the window. "You know, I'm not really the curious type, but sometimes I wonder about places like this. They almost always seem to have a higher concentration of negative energy in them. It could be something happened here that keeps people from coming back."

(Thanks)
Maddie changed quickly, glad of the new clothes and the warmth that filled her suddenly. Putting her hands in her pocket to warm up her fingers, she walked back over to Esme and Nathan.
Dressed and warm, Nathan sat down on the musty floor and inhaled deeply. "How's it going, Maddie?"
Maddie shrugged, “Better then before, at least I’m warm now. What about yourself?”
He looked around the building, taking it in. "Half-decent, considering."
(hey, I'm back ^^)
Esme suddenly jerked away from the window and looked up at the ceiling, her expression wary. "Guys, shh. Did you hear that?"
From somewhere overhead had come a gentle creak, as if someone was standing on the roof above them.
Nathan jumped to his feet. "I do now," he answered quietly. "Quickest way up?"
"Hold it….." Esme's face was tight. "I'm not sure we really want to–"
All at once the ceiling exploded inward, showering them with bits of rotten wood and tile. A sharply glowing figure landed on the floor in a crouch, its massive wings spread out to brush either side of the room. It looked like a man, but his hair and eyes were steely blue. He carried a long white sword that hummed as it moved through the air.
Esme leaped back, swearing. "Scatter! Get out of the house!"
In the blur of wood splinters and noise, Nathan sprinted back into the hallway he'd just come from. He skidded to a stop in front of a familiar-looking door.
"Luke!" he shouted. "Where did you go, you moron?"
“What the hell?!” Maddie looked around for the quickest way out of the house from where they were. Spotting a window not too far away, she tried her best to make her way over without drawing much attention to herself and get out safely.
