Cyprus materialized next to Jay, frowning at the sonar imaging. Jay opened his mouth to explain, but Cyprus beat him to it. "I had suspicions about this planet. The markings, the powers, the monsters. I believe this forest is one of the outer rings of the afterlife. And that," he said, pointing at where the satellite had landed, "is the final barrier around the innermost ring. The equivalent to hell if you will. All of this forest is connected to similar ones like it across the universe. I was stuck in a purgatory ring for about a thousand years on Earth. I had to go through a meltwood ring to escape however. The satellite has stuck itself in the meltwood, and the end of that tunnel is the purgatory ring."

"There's um. There's a way to get it. It's close enough to the entrance that if we're careful we'll be able to get it without accidentally slipping into the…the…y'know," Jay said, finding himself unable to say the word

@Skylark

Phoenix walked into the control room (for real this time) just as Cyrpus was describing the location of the satellite.
"Well…" she hesitated, "We could always… not get the satellite? I mean, we don't know how to get off the planet anyway, so is it even worth the risk?"

@_sleeby_rat_

"We came here to get the satellite, and that's what we're gonna do. I can't be on another failed mission or I might get kicked off. I'm already on reserve, and I don't want to lose my job," Jay said

Addison bit her lip. "Guys if it's too dangerous I'm not letting you go. Jaxon specifically told me that the teams' lives are first."

(g'night!) Cyprus sighed. "We won't be able to leave unless we retrieve the satellite unfortunately. The meltwood has our signature, and unless we take the satellite back from it it will find us and keep us here. Besides, I'm not quite sure the part of the forest we're in right now will react like this for others. It chooses people to reveal the true forms of, and it looks like we've been chosen to be the sort of 'heroes' in this story."

@Skylark

(mornin'!)
"Great," Phoenix sighed, running her hands over her face, "What about our parents? Can you get a scope of where they are compared to our current location and the satellite?"

@_sleeby_rat_

(morning) "If we're lucky, we won't have to see your parents. The meltwood usually deters any creatures that live around it, and I would assume that applies to your parents," Cyprus said

@Skylark

Phoenix laughed humorlessly, "You've never met my parents," her eyes darkened, "Knowing them, they've somehow managed to use the meltwood to their advantage."

@Skylark

"I feel like we're in a Star Wars movie," Phoenix said with a sigh, "And we're just now realizing the power of the Dark Side."

@Skylark

"You just don't appreciate a cinematic masterpiece," Phoenix muttered, then shook her head and rolled her shoulders. "Anyway, we need to make a plan."

@_sleeby_rat_

"I think we should prepare for a fight. The meltwood makes all kinds of monsters, and it won't hesitate to try to use them against us," Jay said

@Skylark

"So, to summarize, we need to get the satellite, avoid my parents, and not be consumed by a sentient forest?" Krystal said, sighing deeply.

@Skylark

"Well, that's something, I suppose," Phoenix said, frowning, "Could you scan the planet again to see where the palace is in comparison to the satellite?"

@_sleeby_rat_

"Palace? Uh, okay." Jay scanned the planet again. "It looks like we got lucky. The palace is almost on the other side of the planet
