Met hadn’t noticed the curious woman, for he had pulled away a little to wipe his still-streaming tears. He wasn’t sure why they were still flowing. He didn’t feel sad any more.
“B-but… you go and enjoy yourself.” He dipped his head.

Andre reached to brush away a few more salty tears. "Are you sure?" he questioned, feeling a bit tired emotionally. He wanted to be sure before he went back to the kitchen. Something about it made him feel a twinge of guilt.

Met sniffled softly a third time and nodded, sighing softly. “Yes, I’m sue.” He had jumped just a little when he felt Andre’s hand brush his cheek. Does his new parent already view him as a child of his own?

(Andre is a cinnamon roll dad who saw Met as his kid after about an hour after the adoption process lol)

Smiling softly, the adult gave a small nod. "Alright. If you need anything, don't worry about interrupting," he added before giving his son's hand a quick comforting squeeze.

Met swallowed and nodded a little, looking down at the floor. He might worry about it. Okay, so he would. That doesn’t matter.

Turning, the adult allowed Met to go and return to his school work. Taking a deep breath, Andre only hoped his cheeks weren't flushed or streaked from the tears. Taking a seat again, the man put on a smile again, prepared to continue the pleasant conversation from before.
"Your eyes are red," the woman observed. Before he was able to dismiss it, his guest was able to drag out the truth from his mouth. Standing, the woman offered to go speak to Met.
"I'm not sure if that's a good idea-" the man started before being interrupted.
"I'll stay outside the door. Don't worry, okay?"
With that, the short woman padded down the small hallway to knock on the closed door to Met's bedroom.

Met had sat down at his desk and turned on his lamp, getting out some calculus to do. He grabbed out his new calculator and started poking in numbers idly, trying to collect himself with short breaths of air. He fiddled with his pencil and jumped when the door was knocked on. He wasn’t sure if he should respond. Act like he was so in-tune with his homework.
“C-come in,” He said softly, turning off his calculator.

The woman decided it would be best to ignore the boy's words and instead sit nearby the door. "I think it's best if I stay out here," she said with a dry laugh. Frowning, she continued on with what she had wanted to say. "I apologize if I make you a tad uncomfortable due to… what you went through. I can't simply say 'I'm not like that' and make you believe me. I would just like your permission to be able to talk with your father every now and again," she said, twirling a strand of short cropped hair around her index finger.

“My permission?” Met asked softly, looking down at his desk. He couldn’t help feeling glad that the woman hadn’t decided to come in. He wouldn’t have liked it, much, but he would be able to cope. Maybe.
“You don’t need my permission to do anything,” He mumbled to his papers, tapping his pencil loudly on the desk on accident and jumping.

"Don't I though? It's… ugh, why won't the words come to mind? It's just not fair to you to need to be worried about the past whenever I'm here…" she trailed off.

Met picked up his pencil and continued to fiddle with it nervously. “It shouldn’t be up to me. I think I’ll be okay.” But he knew he wouldn’t be…
