"Oh…" said Firiko, "So he's afraid something'll happen to me if I keep helping him?" you guys are about as bad as my family,

“Not afraid. Terrified. It wasn’t even really his fault. And Alastair’s link- that’s what caused it.” Jack told him.

"Sheesh that guy's been through a lot…" said Firiko, "I don't suppose you made it worse by blaming him did you?"

“Probably. Didn’t mean to….” Jack trailed off. “I just hope whatever magic that guy did will get rid of the link for a while. If he starts getting controlled while he’s alone…..” Jack shuddered. “It’ll be bad.”

"Oh come on!" said Firiko, "Control magic?! That's just downright dirty!"

“Yes, it is. Those visions are our warning sign that Alastair’s about to begin controlling him.” Jack said. “Reed doesn’t always make it out of the controlling healthy.”

"I've had to deal with control stuff before" said Firiko, "My brother had, has, that risk… and there's nothing we can do about it.."

“Yeah- Let’s hust hope his heart doesn’t stop by accident.” Jack tensed for a second, before turning and opening a portal. Reed stumbles out, looking miserable, with red-rimmed eyes. “You Alright?!” Jack asked, putting a hand on his shoulder. “It’s starting, Jack.” Reed stuttered. Jack’s eyes widened. “Can you stun him?” He asked Firiko.

Firiko immediately cast a spell, Causing gold whips to encircle Reed, "Bindas Harmonix!" the whips turned solid and latched Reed to the wall.

“Looks like whatever magic your friend used didn’t quite work.” Jack said before rushing up to Reed.
“Still with me?”
Reed whimpered, “Put me to sleep, please.”

Firiko watched with concern, listening to Lithalis for a moment. "Unfortunately Lithalis magic would have worked, but the link Alastair has with Reed is too deep, and who knows what'll happen if we break it." he said sadly, "And sleeping magic isn't in my arsenal…"

(Oh oof sorry I forgot you’re like an hour ahead of me)
Jack just touched Reed’s forehead, and he gave him a sad look before falling unconscious. Suddenly, a pulse popped up next to Reed’s head. It moved slowly, but not worryingly so.
“If this changes drastically, we have an issue. Just watch it when I can’t.”

"What exactly did you do?" asked Firiko,
(I'm assuming Reed is the unconscious one? And now there's a pulsing orb next to his head?)

(Think of it as one of those heart rate monitors you see on tv in hospitals. And it basically just the pulse monitor glowing next to his head, and yes it’s Reed)
“Knocked him out. Eventually, Alastair will get mad when he can’t access Reed’s mind, and give up. We’ll be able to tell when it’s over, but for right now, he’s asleep, almost in a coma, and unless his heart rate changed really drastically really quickly, we just need to leave him.” Jack replied.

"Alright.." said Firiko, not liking it one bit.

"I don't like it either, man. But we have to wait. It should be over in a few minutes. When we put him to sleep, Alastair gives up pretty quickly. Usually only about ten minutes."

"Yeah…" said Firiko sitting down, "But his face… that look of fear…." he couldn't help thinking of what happened to Luma…

“Like I told you, he’s terrified of hurting someone. He…. he shot my brother, under mind control. Alastair let go as soon as the arrow got through.” Jack said. “I don’t think he’d survive if he hurt another person he loved.”

"Sounds like my brother" said Firiko quietly, paling a little at the memories of the last time he'd had to face off with him under those circumstances.

Jack eyed the pulse monitor, noticing the slight speed up.

Firiko watched it too, anxious for his freind. I really hope I don't have to fight him…

“Reed?” Jack said cautiously.
Reed was barely heard. “He’s gone.”

Firiko visibly relaxed when he heard his friend, carefully allowing the bindings to lower Reed to the floor.

Jack knelt down next to him. He eyed the pulse monitor. “You good?” Reed nodded weakly.

Firiko figured it was best to stay back this time, not wanting to upset Reed any further as he let his aura fade.

Reed shuddered. Jack put an arm around his friend, who immediately turned away rom both of them, so they couldn’t see his face. He wiped his face, hoping to calm down before making eye contact with either of them.
