Vanessa jumped nearly falling out of bed.

"I'm going to go…… Anyone want anything to eat?"

"I'll come with you," Kate suggested. "Mom, you should stay here until the doctor says you can leave."
Maria pressed her lips together. "I'll be fine."

"Alright." Jay said as he walked over to the door and opened it. He held it open for Kate.

Kate stood up and left the room. She sighed with relief when they got into the hallway.

Jay walked down the hallway then turned and looked at her. "So hospital cafe or somewhere else?"

Vanessa jumped nearly falling out of bed.

He laughed gently "careful, don't want you falling outta bed now don't we." He wrapped his arms around d her waist and tugged her towards her "how are you feeling?"

"You trust their food?" she asked quietly, making a fake gagging face.

"No, so where would you like to get food from?"

"Wherever you want," she said, matching his walking pace.

"You choose something, like which type of food do you want?"

Vanessa jumped nearly falling out of bed.

He laughed gently "careful, don't want you falling outta bed now don't we." He wrapped his arms around d her waist and tugged her towards her "how are you feeling?"

¨Better beside the fact i have a broken arm¨ she said.

He looked at her in confusion "Howes you get that? I thought you were stabbed,"

¨I was I lost consciousness and broke my arm falling¨ she said.

"oh," he frowned and looked away from her for a moment "I'm guessing my sister brought you here?"

¨Yeah¨ she said looking down and fideling with her thumbs.

He nodded "she likes you, as a person." He said with a smile " that rarely happens."

¨I cantell¨ she said.

He chuckled "the only reason she likes is because I chaced her ex boyfriend outta the house with a knife when I was 10."

¨What´s wrong with you ¨ she said with a alugh.

"mom and dad called it normal, plus it was a butter knife, dad had the cleaver in his hand ready to chance him down himself." He smiled at the memory "mom's the only one who can truly calm him down in his times of stress, it's kinda cute,"

Vanessa smiled ::it kinda is¨ she saiid.

He nodded in agreement "I think it's the other way around but it's very hard to tell when mom's mad until it's too late for the other person."

¨Ever since I was a little girl I looked up to your parents always that they were perfect for each other¨ she said.

"You choose something, like which type of food do you want?"

She sighed. "I don't know. I'm in too much pain to think. For the record, my head is still fuzzy and it's really a miracle I'm walking this fast right now."

"Aw." He said and stopped. "Stay right there." He said then slipped away. he came back minutes later and handed her a unmarked bottle.

She eyed him warily. "What's this?"

"It is a bottle with pills. They are just minor pain killers. nothing harsh. I suggest maybe 2 or 3"

"Thanks." She kept the bottle firmly in her hand.

He nodded then proceed walking.

She followed him again, and they soon reached the exit.
