(Alright. To John's camp?)
Ye)
John spent most of his free time walking up and down the aisles between tents. With his promotion, came the priveledge of sleeping in a house when their camp came to rest around one.
Peter approached John. "A letter from your brown haired beauty," he said with a wink.
His eyes lit up like a kid on Christmas. "Well, hand it over!" John exclaimed.
Peter handed him the letter. "Don't get too excited," he laughed.
John quickly tore open the envelope, and opened her letter.
Peter watched his face. "Well? Good news from the Mrs.?"
John's expression became flat, then flickered with fear.
"John? What's the matter? Is she in trouble?" Peter asked quickly in a hushed voice.
He slowly folded the letter. "It's Simcoe. He's taken up board in our home,"
"That–" Peter tensed and cut himself off before he could say something he would later regret. "That means that Jane's all alone with him."
"Ohhhh…" John moaned, "Ohh, this is bad.."
"What are you going to do?" he asked quietly.
"I can't do anything!" He exhaled in a nervous laugh. "She's three states away,"
"You can at least letter her back," Peter pointed out. "It's certainly better than leaving her completely alone with him…"
April swallowed hard, pain contorting her features. “Try for me, Cruz. Come on,”

"Peter," John breathed, "Please stop talking,"

"Green eyes," he whispered halfheartedly.

"Peter," John breathed, "Please stop talking,"
He winced. "Sorry…"
He breathed in deep, "Oh, what was his name.. I know a Queen's ranger who I stationed there some months before," John struggled.
"May I see her letter?" Peter asked.
John quietly handed it over.
He scanned it and gave it back. "You can't request who stays in your house, can you?"
"No." He looked sideways, "Damnit, damn.. King George!" He cursed quietly.
Peter's eyes widened. "John – blasphemy," he said in a quiet voice.
John's nose twitched, ans the man shut his eyes to force himself back to a calm demeanor. A painfully forced one at that. "What am I supposed to do, then?" He breathed. "My pregnant wife is home alone with a man notorious for breaking the law, having no morals and getting away with it because he's so.. goddamn sly, that little.." He refrained from cursing any worse.
Peter winced. "I'm not sure. In the meantime, you should letter her back."
"I should." He agreed quietly, looking down at the earth. "Am I a bad husband..?"
"No, of course not!" Peter assured him. "Why on Earth would you think that?"
