Marius heaved his breaths, looking down at Louis with a flushed face and a huge smile.

"What do you expect from me?" John replied exasperatedly, "I'm one of the most accomodating husbands on this continent, and I'm not allowed to get upset once?" He gestured stiffly, cheeks getting flustered. "Some men beat their wives!"
Peter arched his eyebrows. "She was only trying to protect you. She just wants the best for you, and you know it, John. Did you see how Simcoe made her turn from bold to timid in a heartbeat?"

Louis panted heavily, staring up at Marius with a wide-eyed, danced expression.

"That man has always had issues. If we got skeptical with every comment he made, nothing would get done," John defended. "Besides, she knew to watch herself– she even promised me beforehand she would. I have every right to feel upset,"
Marius heaved his breaths, looking down at Louis with a flushed face and a huge smile.
Louis panted heavily, staring up at Marius with a wide-eyed, danced expression.
"Hey," Marius laughed boyishly.
(*dazed, not danced, sorry)
“Hey,” he echoed, seemingly frozen in place.
Lmao, i got your drift )
Marius pushed hair from his hazel eyes behind his ears, "You good..?" He asked with his prevailing smile.
Louis cleared his throat loudly, cheeks flushed for reasons other than the heat. “Yeah.”
"Mm." Marius breathed, "I should get off you,"
Neither of them moved. After a moment, Louis coughed awkwardly.
He shuffled off and sat in the grass. Marius peered up at the sky, "Did we both lose?"
Louis remained on the ground, chest rising and falling. I’d say that I won.
“I guess so.”
Marius smiled, "Oh well."
He rolled over onto his side, now facing Marius. “Yeah.”
He pulled a stalk of dry grass from the ground and situated it in his teeth. It was easy to notice, how his hair held the same rich, golden color.
“Do you do this all the time?” Loud asked, letting the sun warm his golden-brown skin.
"Yeah." He replied, "I've done this my whole life, caring for sheep and playing in the sun,"
“No, I meant racing strange boys and pulling them to the ground.” The blush had not yet disappeared from Louis’s cheeks, but there was a teasing glimmer in his dark eyes.
"Oh," he smiled sweetly, "No, not ever,"
This boy….. Louis could still feel his heart hammering in his chest. “So I’m the first?”
"The very first," Marius switched the stalk of grass to the other side of his lips.
“Good.”
Louis’s eyes followed the movements of Marius’s lips, the stalk switching sides.
"Why'sit good?" Marius asked, curious eyes returning from the treetops and the sky.
“I like being the first. Numero un,” he replied vaguely.
"That man has always had issues. If we got skeptical with every comment he made, nothing would get done," John defended. "Besides, she knew to watch herself– she even promised me beforehand she would. I have every right to feel upset,"
Peter sighed. "Fine. I understand. You should at least try talking to her after you've calmed down a bit more. She's in the foyer."
John sighed very slowly. "Fine,"

Marius laughed lightly, "Conceited much?" He teased the Frenchman.
John sighed very slowly. "Fine,"
Peter nodded and left.
Jane made managed to calm down some, but not much. She was still trembling awfully and cursing herself for it.
John pushed a hand through his hair, pulled the ribbon loose from it. One more deep breath, and he stood to console his wife. She was more important than this.
She tried to open her eyes, but the memories were too strong and they were dragging her back in…
