Lillian was sitting in the corner of a local café. She hadn't been out anywhere without Darren in a long time, but she was here to talk to Belle, which she also hadn't done in a long time. She took a light sip of the coffee, is this what being an adult felt like? Maybe.
Belle slipped inside, the scent of the coffee and pastries filling her nose and making her smile, glancing around and looking for Lillian.
Lillian watched Belle entered and waved over at her, "Hey Belle!"
Her smile brightened a little and she slid into the seat across from her. "Hey Lil, what's going on?"
"Shockingly not much," Lillian said smiling, "Looking at colleges and all that."
"Oh yeah, because you're living a normal life and then there's me." She laughed, running her hand over her stomach.
Lillian eyes lit up and she looked at Belle, "Hey, you choose to live your life and I live mine. How are they anyway?"
"Active." She chuckled. "But they're doing well. Let's just hope they don't fight this much in real life."
Lillian laughed quietly, “I’m sure they will to some degree. They’re siblings after all.”
"Twins, really. My sister and I never truly fought but we did pick on each other."
“Twins, siblings, same basic concept. To them fighting is just another way to say I love you.”
"Yeah, sounds about right." She chuckled, running her hand over her stomach again.
Lillian laughed with her louder this time, "How far along are you?"
"If this were a normal pregnancy, I'd be about 6 months. But because I'm me, only a couple months."
"Jesus, accelerated much? Damn, how does the morning sickness feel then? Or is that part done with?"
"Oh it's bad. But I deal with it if it means I get my children." She shrugged.
"Your a mother already," Lillian chuckled.
"It's kind of my job. I'm just preparing."
"You plan on being a stay at home mom?"
"Oh, definitely. My mother was one of the only people I could trust, I'd love for my own children to have the same relationship."
"That's great," Lillian smiled over at Belle though her eyes were distant thinking back on the torture her mother was, "I'm glad that you had that and your children will too."
"Let's just hope it stays that way." She glanced down, her eyes suddenly worried. What if she couldn't do all the things she promised? What if she wasn't enough?
"You'll do great Belle," Lillian could recognize the look in Belle's eyes. She had that look on all to often herself.
"I mean, I hope so." She glanced back up, flashing a nervous smile.
Lillian smiled encouragingly over at Belle, "I know so. I promise you'll be amazing."
She chuckled softly. "I mean, I'll certainly try."
"Great," Lillian smiled, "Now what do you want to order?"
"Oh, no I ate earlier I'm fine." She smiled a little. "You get what you want."
"Oh I already ordered," Lillian responded happily, "I was just asking if you wanted anything."
