Sterling’s POV:

“I can feel your eyes on me, beautiful,” I chuckled as I stepped into the bathroom. I glanced back at her with a smirk, winking before I disappeared.

Eden’s POV:

I squeaked and threw my pillow at him, blushing like crazy. I missed, though, because he disappeared into the bathroom.

I slipped deeper into the blanket, pouting as I crossed my arms. Why did he have to tease me all the time?

The walk from my room to the designated meeting area seemed to take forever, but also passed much too quickly for me to properly compose myself. What on earth was I supposed to say to him? Just 'Hi, Gray', pretend we've always been friends, pretend we always do things like this?

Several other questions also ran through my mind, one of the most prominent being 'why am I wearing nice clothes?' Sure, I liked dressing up, enjoyed trying on different outfits, but…. on an outing (if that's what it could be called) with Gray, to be wearing a knee-length peach dress with a beige, cropped hoodie on top was…. questionable. For me, it wasn't that fancy of an outfit, but something about wearing it in front of him….

I shook the thought away as I pushed open the door to the dessert place, turning my head to look for the man I was supposed to be meeting.

Gray’s POV:

I’d arrived at the café earlier than we’d originally planned. Why was I so nervous about this? It was just a small hangout. Why was I acting like it was a date?

One of the waitresses sent me a knowing wink and a coy smile, and I glared at her. She laughed and came up with some water. I noticed my mouth had gone dry, so I took a gulp of water to make it better.

When Violeta came in, however, it happened again. Was it really actually possible for someone to look better than they always do? I figured she wouldn’t bother dressing up, but here she was…

Standing up, I waved at her, shaking my head and pulling on a smile.

Eden’s POV:

Sterling’s POV:

I returned to the bedroom a few minutes later, as promised, with a towel wrapped around my waist and my hair damp from the shower. Seeing Eden in much the same position as when I left her, I laughed softly.

“You okay over there, babe?” I asked as I looked for some clean clothes to wear.

I caught sight of him almost immediately. He waved at me, and I waved back. For a moment, I just stood there awkwardly, before beginning to weave my way through the tables to where he was sitting. "Hi. Um. Hi, Gray."

Eden’s POV:

Hearing him exit the bathroom, I inhaled deeply and took my head out from the sheets.

“I’m okay,” I murmured, trying to look anywhere but at him. I decided it would be better to run towards the bathroom, but my legs wouldn’t allow it for now.

So, making sure the blanket was covering my front, I sat up and set my feet on the ground, wincing as I finally stood up.

I took a step, stumbling before catching my balance. Now I know what Sterling meant when he said it wears a person out.

I stretched a little before taking slow steps to the bathroom. Then I remembered I was wearing absolutely no clothes.

Embarrassed to even turn around, I hurried to the bathroom as fast as my wobbly legs could take me.

I caught sight of him almost immediately. He waved at me, and I waved back. For a moment, I just stood there awkwardly, before beginning to weave my way through the tables to where he was sitting. "Hi. Um. Hi, Gray."

“Hello,” I greeted her smoothly, motioning her to sit down. “You look nice. How are you?”

I tensed as soon as the words left his mouth, though it was more on instinct. "I'm good. How are you?"

I chuckled more as I watched her stumbling. I reached out my arms to catch her before she could fall, keeping my hands to her shoulders. If she didn’t want me to wander, then I wouldn’t.

“Maybe you should stick to a bath today. At least until you can walk without collapsing,” I murmured softly, making sure my eyes were glued to hers. Not that that was a problem. I was currently lost in them, which was good because it kept my gaze from wandering when it shouldn’t.

Gray’s POV:

“I have a question,” I said, smiling at her question in return.

Eden’s POV:

Sterling’s touch made me shiver, and I fisted my hands in his shirt for support. I looked into his eyes, getting lost in them momentarily.

God, I loved this man. He took such good care of me… I knew he wanted to take me in, but he wouldn’t, not without my consent.

“U-um, yea—yeah,” I stammered. “I should, shouldn’t I?”

"Ask away," I replied as I seated myself, not realizing that my hands had gathered up fistfuls of my skirt as a way to vent my anxiety.

Gray’s POV:

I noticed the way her hands had fisted her skirt, and shook my head with a sigh.

“Did Eden go home yet?” I asked, pretending I didn’t know she was anxious.

"She left this morning…. she didn't come back to my place so I assume everything's fine." I frowned. "Wait– how do you know about that?"

Sterling’s POV:

I smiled down at her softly and bent to press a soft kiss to her forehead. “Go ahead and wash up. I’ll make breakfast.”

Gray’s POV:

I sighed in relief, running fingers through my hair.

“I saw Sterling yesterday,” I explained. “He looked terrible. He told me he and Eden got into an argument, and I figured she was at your place since Sterling said she hadn’t been home. So that’s how I knew about it.”

Sterling’s POV:

I smiled down at her softly and bent to press a soft kiss to her forehead. “Go ahead and wash up. I’ll make breakfast.”

Eden’s POV:

I nodded in a daze, watching him leave before I cleared my head and wobbled my way to the bathroom.

As I was filling the bath, I decided to look into the mirror. My dark bags were still present, but my face was glowing. I smiled at that, right before my eyes caught the bites on my neck.

I touched them one by one, finding my throat getting dryer each time. He’d done so much… it was supposed to make me embarrassed, but I was quite pleased. He'd left his mark on me.

I stepped into the warm bath and sighed in content, the warmth soothing away any sores I was feeling. A bath was a good idea.”

Sterling’s POV:

Once I was alone again and working in the kitchen, it was hard not to get distracted by my memories of the night before. I know she hadn’t done anything like that before, while I had a few times, but that probably made it even better than if she had. It was nice to have the connection with her like that.

I smiled to myself as I cracked some eggs into the pan in the stove. I had seen the mark she had left me with before I got into the shower, and I was pretty proud of it. Of course, I had left plenty of my own on her, so we were even…

Eden’s POV:

I walked stiffly into the living room, rubbing my neck self-consciously know that I was aware of the red marks on my skin. That, and because I decided on wearing shorts to give my legs some space, and because I was wearing his shirt and not mine. It was too big on me, so occasionally it would slip off of my shoulders, but I didn’t mind.

I was aware that I wasn’t Sterling’s first. The thought stung for a moment and I felt jealousy creep up at me at the girl who was first, but then I let go of the thought. I was the one who ended up having Sterling, anyway, so I’d won.

Watching him cook brought a smile to my face. I walked over to him and hugged his back, smiling.

“Thank you, Ry…” I murmured, pressing my forehead against his back.

Sterling’s POV:

I smiled as I felt Eden’s arms around me, and I twisted around to kiss the top of her head. “I figured eggs were simple enough to make, and they don’t take that much time. Do you think you’re up for your classes today?” I asked softly as I finished the eggs and placed them on a couple of plates for us.

Eden’s POV:

I watched as Sterling out the eggs on the plates, taking a step back.

“Um, I don’t think so,” I answered cheekily. “I want to skip today. I’ll catch up later on. Besides, isn’t it 2 PM right now?”

Sterling’s POV:

I blinked and furrowed my eyebrows before looking at the clock. “Huh. We slept for a long time… Whelp, I guess time flies when you’re having fun, huh?” I asked, sending her a teasing wink as I grabbed the plates and brought them toward the table.

Eden’s POV:

I turned pink, hiding my face in my hands.

“Sterling,” I whined, embarrassed. “Why do you tease me so much?”

Sterling’s POV:

“Hm… Could it maybe be because I live seeing your reactions? And now I have more I can tease you about…” I trailed off, wiggling my eyebrows at her playfully.

Eden’s POV:

I looked at him, copying what Ashley does with Luke to get her way. I widened my eyes and pulled off the ‘puppy dog’ look. I didn’t know if it would work or not, but I did it anyway.

“That’s mean, Ry,” I said to him. “You tease me all the time and there’s nothing I can tease you with…”

(Lol! Ashley would be very proud, E.)

Sterling’s POV:

I blinked at her look, her eyes melting my heart. Gosh, what was it with girls and their eyes making guys’ lives difficult?

“All right, all right… I’ll hold off on some of my teasing,” I sighed, closing my eyes to her look.

(Eden is glad to hear that. XD)

Eden’s POV:

It worked! It actually worked. I couldn’t believe it. My first time trying on that look and it worked on him! It seems I’ve found something that could make me get what I want from him…

I pulled on the shirt I wore after feeling it slip off before raising my arms towards Sterling.

“Carry me,” I said to him, not in the mood to walk. “To the table.”

Sterling’s POV:

I laughed and bowed to her, grinning playfully as I straitened. “As you wish, my lady,” I teased.

Walking over, I wrapped my arms around her legs and tossed her over my shoulder. I chuckled as I walked over to the table, holding onto her for a moment longer before I had to put her down.
