Cyrus tried to call after Sparrow and stop her, but he barely had any voice left.
He turned to Luna, his eyes looking empty.
“I can’t… I can’t do this anymore… I don’t want to carry on.”
Cyrus tried to call after Sparrow and stop her, but he barely had any voice left.
He turned to Luna, his eyes looking empty.
“I can’t… I can’t do this anymore… I don’t want to carry on.”
(I am having fun writing about sparrow at this time lmao)
(Ooh same, but with Cy and his slow descent into madness)
Luna looked at Cyrus with sad eyes. She recognized the look in his eyes, "I-It'll get better Cyrus. I promise you that. So please just keep going, if not for yourself. F-for the people who need you."
“For you guys… I will,” he sighed, “No hard feelings if I have to sacrifice it all though. I’m fully prepared…”
"No hard f-feelings," Luna looked at him, "N-now shall we go follow Sparrow?"
“Yeah, before she does anything she might regret,” Cyrus agreed.
He stopped for a second. “Can… can I have a hug?”
It sounded simple, almost childish, how he asked, but he was serious.
Luna gave him a slight smile and nodded as she opened her arms, "O-of course."
Cyrus sank into Luna’s arms, feeling like he was going to cry, but so hardened and empty-feeling that he probably couldn’t have if he tried.
When he was done squeezing her tightly, it had grounded him just a little.
He let out a deep breath.
“Let’s grab our things and get out,” he said.
Luna nodded and let go pulling her hood back atop her head, “Y-yeah. Meet you at the stables?”
“Right. I’ll try to make it quick,” Cyrus promised.
Luna nodded one more time before making her way back to her room. She was only grabbing her bow and quiver. Maybe a mask to help cover her face more, but that was it.
Cyrus packed a full bag with some medical supplies. They would almost certainly need them. He grabbed his weapons and a mask. Finally, Cyrus put on some light armor-like padding and strapped on his knee brace a little better. He jogged our to the front, by the stables.
Luna hopped out from her window and walked over to where Cyrus was, “Y-you ready to go?”
“Yeah,” Cyrus replied, adjusting his backpack straps a little.
Sparrow got onto her horse that was now saddled and gave the young boy a small gold watch, something that turned into a spyglass with a click if a hidden button. Clicking her tongue and flicking the reins, Sultan, the horse, started moving and she was quickly outside the guilds main gates and on her way to the other guild.
A short while later, she stopped to rest at the foot of a tree and opened a map on her watch. Sparrow looked at her position, the distance remaining, and the position of the sun, she estimated that within three days she would reach the outskirts of the town Panthers guild was situated it. She took a sip of water and reattached the bottle to her saddle bag before hopping back on the horse and continuing her journey.
“Th-then let’s go,” Luna walked into the stables and saddled one of the horses before climbing on it. She may not be the best rider, but they needed all the horses they could get.
Cyrus saddled up a big brown stallion and mounted it. He looked at Luna.
“You ready?”
"Y-yep," Luna successfully mounted the white horse and looked back at Cyrus, "Th-the more time we waste, th-the further ahead Sparrow can get."
“Yeah, I hope we can catch up,” he said, “Not sure how long a horse can keep a fast pace with me on board.”
Cyrus adjusted his grip on the reigns and started pulling out of the stables and towards Black Claw.
Luna let her horse follow after Cyrus, "I-I'm sure the horse can handle it. Now let's go."
She set her horse to a gallop to try and make up the lost ground. That and the sooner they got to the guild, the sooner they could get this over with.
Cyrus pulled his mask over his face and urged his horse to go into a steady gallop.
He was very quiet, not even knowing what to say to Luna. He was feeling broken and he just wanted to put an end to this, in whatever way possible.
Luna eased up once they were a fair ways away from the guild. Not too slow, but slower than before. She glanced over at Cyrus and put her lower facial mask on. What was she supposed to say to him? Everything's a mess at the moment.
Cyrus looked to Luna, then looked away.
“Thank you for standing by me still.”
His grip on the reigns was very tight, and his shakiness and other signs of anxiety had never really gone away.
"Y-your welcome," Luna responded glancing over at Cyrus, "I-It's what friends do."
Cyrus lifted his head to look ahead of himself, and he forged on. He ran a hand through his hair.
“It hurts so much…” he whispered.
Luna looked at him, "Hm? D-did you say something Cyrus?"
“N-no…” he replied. His voice was going all hoarse again, “It was nothing.”
Cyrus shuddered just pondering over everything that was happening.
Sparrow slowed her horse until he was only just moving. She whistled a couple time and Ryker screeched, soaring up and spreading his wings. Anyone at a 7 kilometer distance could see the bird
Luna looked up and saw the bird, "O-Okay. Isn't that Ryker?"
