Joshua pulled away from the hug. "That reminds me. I ran into a R.A.C agent before you called me." Josh then began to recount his encounter with Blake. He was a bit nervous to retell it, considering how nice he acted towards the agent. Most of the people in the TGR would gladly spit in a R.A.C. agent's face, but he FED and BANDAGED one! As his story came to a close, he looked nervously at the ground. "And I don't even know what his mission was. All I know is that his name is Blake…and I spent enough time with him to ID him. So I guess it was kinda helpful…"

@Lenered

"It's okay, I read somewhere that it helps to tell someone," Ace fingered his glasses, "I guess you're my confidante." he cleared his throat and began to start, as if he was spinning a story, "We were called the Tarakona. Proud people, living in the mountains. All of us had dragons, their souls intertwined with ours when we were three. There would be a bonding ritual and everyone would watch as you got your mark. We all knew each other. Potlucks, dinners, we were a community, closely knit. I knew everyone and everyone knew me. If you sneezed on one side of the village and walked to the other, someone would say bless you." Ace laughed at the memory, "We had no secrets, just family. We had races. The annual Tarakona race, with the dragons of course. I practiced all year for that race and one year I was convince I would win. I was seven, old enough to qualify, but too young for the others to take notice. It was the day before the race and I ran down to my grandmother, and took her hand. Her clear blue eyes crinkled and her hands began to glow. Her face suddenly went white and I asked her what she saw and she said, death." a blank stare had take over Ace's eyes. "I should've known something was up, but my mom ushered me out the door and I didn't think too much of it. I went home, played with my friends, ate dinner, went to bed, but at midnight, I decided I needed to train. So, I took Zodiac and we flew for hours, faster and faster each time. As soon as I got home, I knew something was wrong. And I'll never forget the blood on the streets, in the homes, covering the beds, staining the floors." his glasses started to fog up, and tears streamed down his face freely. "I went straight to the chief's house, praying that someone was alive, but no one was, so I took a knife, this knife," Ace pulled his knife from his pocket and wiped the tears from his face, "I plunged it into my chest, and I fainted, but when I woke up, I wasn't in the afterlife, I was still alive. For years after that, the damn thing wouldn't heal, but I think it's starting to now." Ace took Macha's hand and held it, taking in her touch, her warmth, and he sat, the silence hanging like a thick haze above them.

Dani gave Josh a smile. "Hey." She lifted his chin so that he was looking at her. "You did the right thing. No body deserves to suffer. I'll have Niki look for him." She pulled out her phone and called Niki, telling her what she needed to do. Then she turned her attention back to Josh. "It's okay." She soothed. "Don't apologize for doing what you think is right."

@Mish

Josh nodded. Leaning his head against the wall. "I hope that guy's okay. He doesn't deserve to be in the R.A.C., really. The more that I think about it, I'm almost POSITIVE that he was beaten up by one of his colleagues. And he doesn't seem to have a good relationship with anyone there…He seemed really scared that someone might find him not doing his job and report him…All the more reason to hate the R.A.C. I guess."

@blue_topaz

Sadness settled over Macha like a heavy blanket, sadness for Ace, for his family, for his town. Pushing herself up as best she could, she reached up, enfolding him in a tight, meaningful hug. "You must have loved them so much.", she murmured, beginning to remember.

@Lenered

"I did. But that's the past and now I have all of you guys." Ace kissed Macha on the forehead. "I love you." he whispered.

@blue_topaz

Macha didn't even have to think. "Hot cross buns.", she replied, breathing in his scent and wrapping her wings around him. "I had a friend…. Her mum used to make them." Fae., she thought sadly, fingering one of her bracelets lightly and bursting to get her story out.

@Lenered

Ace looked at her bracelets, surprised he hadn't noticed them before. His head started forming an idea. "What about your life before the past few days? I want to know about that." he was almost lying next to Macha now, her wings wrapped around him, and his arms wrapped around her.

Ana’s eyes fluttered open. Then she sat up with a jolt. The jacket fluttered off her smapl frame as she seemed confused more so now than ever. This…wasn’t her house? Where was- oh..right. God truly an idiot. Ana let out a small sigh. She picked up the jacket and looked at it curiously. Who’s was this anyways? Where was everyone? Did they leave her? She couldn’t blame them. Maybe they got sense into their brain after all. Leave her behind… it was better this way.

(Hey guys! I've been super busy all day so I'm just gonna post this and go to bed. Btw Niki is just sort of a filler character like Dr. Branch so anyone can be her if they want!)

Niki hummed quietly along to the car radio as she drove through the city streets. Normally, she'd be angry to be up at such a late hour, but not tonight. Not after a successful capture. Getting any R.A.C. soldier off the street was an accomplishment, even if they weren't the most… effective. Niki sped up as she turned onto an empty side street. After the call to the Citadel, she was driving to one of the secret entrances to drop off the boy. Blake was completely out cold in the back seat, letting out snores along with an occasional whimper. He was an easy target to catch…

As soon as he walked into the bar Niki could sense the change in atmosphere. Everyone stiffened a little, hardly noticeable to the untrained eye. She watched Blake carefully as the boy gruffly slid a photo to the bartender and requested information. As soon as Niki spotted the gun, she knew he was R.A.C. Although, she'd never seen a soldier with wings before. It's not like the R.A.C. is tolerant of magic of any kind. She'd strolled up to the bar and sat down next to him. The boy's steely eyes were locked with the bartender, a shot of whiskey clenched firmly in his hand.

"Challenge accepted." Blake narrowed his eyes at the bartender and managed to take three shots of the hard liquor in quick succession. Someone's had some practice… Niki observed quietly. As soon as he finished, Niki could practically see the alcohol going straight to his head.

"Impressive. As for your photo, I see a lot of faces around here." The bartender drifted over to the other side of the bar, serving up a few drinks. Blake let out a frustrated groan from where he sat. He started to unsteadily get to his feet, obviously trying to make a quick escape. No way am I losing this opportunity. Niki steeled her nerves, preparing herself for however dangerous this R.A.C. soldier could be.

"Hey! Get another shot for the stud next to me!" Niki called out to the bartender playfully, gesturing at Blake. The boy had froze in place, wobbling slightly on his feet. He pointed at himself with a confused look on his face, and grew bashful as she nodded and patted the stool for him to sit back down. With a confused look, he obeyed. "What's your name?" Niki kept up the cheerful attitude.

"Blake." He replied gruffly, seemingly wary. A few more drinks would loosen his tongue. About a half hour later, Niki found out she was right. Another four shots later and Blake wouldn't stop talking about anything and everything, but she'd gained some valuable intell. The soldier in front of her was Blake Thorfin from Unit 11. He had some tragic orphan type story she couldn't hear over the music and Blake's blubbering. Apparently the R.A.C. has no other soldiers that Blake knows of with magic. Also, Blake had a tendency to get beaten quite a lot. But most importantly, she found out they sent him out on a hit mission. At this point it wasn't hard to confiscate his gun, badge, and case file on his target. Now all she had to do was get him a little more drunk so she could take him to the car without him remembering anything about the ride to the Citadel…

One thing lead to another, and finally Niki accomplished her goal, leading an extremely drunk Blake out to her car. He stumbled and slurred, almost impossible to understand. Now here she was in present time. Just as she parked her car out of sight, her cellphone rang. She picked it up and answered. "Hey Dani." Niki smirked as she listened to her friend's request. "I have some good news for you then…" Niki looked back at Blake, a smile starting to form on her face. This R.A.C. soldier was making her look really good right now.

@blue_topaz

(ooooh)
(Blake is honestly such an underdog I love him)
(oh glob, @Nerd, the answer to Ace's question is gonna take me forever to write, so sorry to keep you waiting)
(thanks for asking it, tho! Exactly what I needed ;)

@Natasha

Dani shifted herself a little. She sank back into the wall, wondering where Sabine was. Probably still not back from her mission in Africa. She picked up her phone and texted Sabine. Hey Sabine. Just wanted to see how you're doing. Then she turned her attention back to Josh. "You should probably go back to Ana. She'll be wondering where you went. I've got to go." She stood up.

(by the way, a 'Dying Desert' is a desert in which the sand dunes have shifted so much that most settlements have been completely covered, killing everyone. When a desert Dies, the first syllable in its name is removed, ie 'Sahara' becomes 'Hara'.

Macha took a deep breath, a rush of thankfulness overwhelming her as she lay her head on Ace's chest, waves of love coursing steadily through her. "I was born in Hara, one of the largest Dying Deserts," she started. "My people were the Haranae, avian desert dwellers." Breathe in, out. In, out "Imagine three gigantic spires of glittering brown rock rising out of the desert sand, almost reaching the clouds, with freshwater springs coursing through them. Now, imagine a whole village, almost as big as a city, built on those spires, entwining upwards until the very top, with quaint square houses painted in faded pastel colors, each house a shade of its own, each connected with bridges, planks, pathways, roads, and plazas." Macha closed her eyes, remembering. "The most exotic plants and flowers grew by every house, and every Saturday night, we would hold the liveliest of dances in the main plaza under the countless swirling galaxies, where the sand satyrs played music and we would all gather in a circle and dance all the traditional dances, everyone from the smallest toddler to the most elderly grandparent." Macha struggled to hold back tears as the beloved memories of her childhood came back to her, as bittersweet as the cool cactus juice the village children would drink as they watched the grapefruit sun set on the sandy horizon. "We were people of music, of dance.", she whispered. "Most of us had magic, but those without were not shunned. Those with magic, had something called 'Talisman Magic'." She gestured to a bracelet hanging on her wrist. "This is my Talisman.", she said. The bracelet was made of three, large, solid gold beads hanging on a white cord. "When someone's powers are too powerful for them to harness, they need a special object, or a Talisman, to channel it for them so that they can use it safely. This one's mine."

(I'm gonna do this in stages, or else it's gonna take me hours, k?)

@blue_topaz

"Some people have asked me, if the Talisman is what's letting me use my power, then why don't I just take it off?" Macha shook her head. "It doesn't work that way. If I used my power while not wearing it, it would kill me immediately. I should know, I tried taking it off once, and I became so sick I almost dies within a matter of minutes." She sighed. "It's the bane of my life, but at the same time, it's my savior."

(no where near being done yet lol, just waiting for someone else to add on before I continue)

@ONLINE_ROBO

(Hello I know I'm late to the RP but I was wondering if I could join. [I have a villain I would like to develop before I actually use him in a story.] If so I have already think I know where I could drop in. Because Blake was kidnapped the R.A.C. might think he betrayed them and send someone after him)

(My characters name is Zander Krypt [ His code name is Enigma] He is a 19 y/o and stands at 6'3. He is lean and fit, has olive skin, and a bedhead hairstyle. He is a talented magic user, and is able to summon his familiar at will.)(He is also a food enthusiast but I'm still not sure if I want to do that. ;))

@blue_topaz

(I'm cool with it, as long as @TiredOtter is too :) Just remember to try your best to check daily, if he's fine with it)
(I'm bored, so I'm just gonna continue)

"When I was about seven,", she continued, "A small Gypsy caravan passed by the town. Due to the desert Dying, it had been years since anyone had seen the Gypsies. The caravan was alone, which was unusual, and when we went to investigate, we found a non-magical Gypsy mother and her little boy, who was around my age. She said that they had been separated from the group in a massive sandstorm, and were trying to find their way back. We all offered them shelter, and the boy became my first friend." Macha paused, brushing a strand of hair out of her eye, the familiar rhythm of her story calming her. "All the village children knew and played with eachother, but he was my first real one. His name was something long and complicated in Arabic, so I called him Davie instead, and we played for long hours in the sand dunes for almost five months, but then—." She sighed. "I spoke my first prophecy." Macha was silent for a second, before resuming. "Back then, I had regular skin and platinum blonde hair, but after my powers began to increase, my skin turned slowly to stone, and started cracking when I was about eleven. Davie's mother became afraid that I would hurt her son, and they fled in the middle of the night." Macha held out her left hand, displaying the bracelet closest to her elbow. "Before he left, he made me this bracelet." The bracelet was a simple twisted design with randomly placed, worn white and brown threads, with obviously fake golden beads strung here and there. It looked sloppily made, like it had been crafted by the clumsy hands of a small child, which it had been. "After they left, I was feared by everyone in the village. They soon became distrustful of my mother as well, and soon she was shunned by the rest of the village. I watched her become bitter and angry, trying to hold on to her love for me, but…" Macha shook her head. "So, I left. At the age of seven, I ran away from home, from Hara. I didn't want to hurt anyone else."

(* takes a small break in the backstory to wait for someone else *)

@Mish

Josh watched Dani go off. "Uh, okay…" She probably didn't hear him. Shrugging it off, he returned to the waiting room, where he found Ana. "H-hey. You're awake. How was your nap?"

@mistress-0f-n0ne

Ana nearly fell out of her chair in surprise when she heard Josh’s voice. Relief flooded her. Selfish relief. They didn’t abandon her….yet. “Is this your jacket?”
