“Well, maybe it’s the kind that activates when we open the door. So we could all step back and hit the lever with your cane or something?l

"That sounds reasonable," Rainy said. "If everyone agrees." She handed off her cane.

Pocky nodded. "This could work."

"It's going to," Maya said firmly. "We're making it out of here."

Pocky nodded and stood straighter.

"Okay, if we're ready, lets do it," Rainy said

Maya moved forward until she saw a lever, then reached for it with the cane. Hitting it, she passed the cane back. A door opened, and poison fell from the doorway, seeping out and near them.

Pocky backed up, against the wall. "Good job." She whispered.

“How are we going to get past this? It’s blocking the way to the door.”

"I wonder what type of poison it is," Rainy mused.

She pulled a small but of paper from her bag and dropped it in the liquid. It dissolved. “Some sort of acid.”

"I don't suppose anyone has baking soda to counteract the acidity," Rainy said with a wry, nervous grin.

“No,” she laughed. “I have coffee? Does that even work?”

Rainy shook her head. "Coffee's acidic. I don't know what else we can do. Maybe water, to dilute it?"

“I have some,” she said, pulling a bottle out.

(Sorry I was gone, I was super busy over the weekend!)

“You three can handle that sort of science stuff, I almost flunked Chemistry,” Eli said, chuckling.

"Chemistry's my favorite," Rainy laughed. "Even though it's technically dangerous for a blind girl to play with chemicals." She turned her attention back to the acid flowing from the door. "Just dump a lot, and then toss more paper in to see if it disintegrates."

"I'm with him on this one." Pocky piped up. "I don't have a clue what your doing."

"Dilution," Rainy explained, "is like when you put ice in your soda. Makes the substance weaker. Hopefully we have enough water where the acid becomes weak enough to walk through."

Pocky nodded. "Hey wait!" She said, and pulled a full water-bottle out of her backpack. "Do you need this too?"

Eli gave Pocky a quick grin, then turned his attention back to Rainy and nodded slowly in understanding.

Maya blinked, then nodded. “Alright,” she said, handing the water to Rainy. “I also have little idea what you’re talking about, so i’ll Let you handle it.”

"Sure thing," Rainy said with a grin. "Tell me when i'm close enough to the acid to get the water in it," she requested as she started to inch forward.

“You can stop now,” Maya said, watching. “Will the water make it spread more? Wait, we should mix it somehow, right?@

"I'll mix it with my cane," Rainy shrugged, "I won't be upset if it gets destroyed." She started to dump the water, taking small steps back as it began to spread. "If I lose a toe I'm going to blame all of you."

“Guess we better not let you lose a toe then,” she laughed.

She finished pouring one of the bottles of water and swirled the mixture with her cane. Holding up her cane, she asked, "Is the acid still eating through the material?"

“A little,” she said. “Much slower though.”
