Devon gave him a small, flustered smile before finally tearing her gaze away from his eyes. She looked over his shoulder and took a sip of her drink, then turned her eyes back to him.
"So. Where should we walk to?" she asked once she was sure her voice wouldn't break.
(I… have no idea
Where should they walk to?)
(Lol. Um… I think I may have mentioned earlier that there's a small lake behind the coffee shop? Otherwise, I think the park is nearby…)
Yeah sure
Are they just going to talk or should something happen?)
(Hm… That depends. I don't really want to do anything with Devon right now, but something could happen with Sebastian?)
(Sure, unless you want to skip
If not, one of his parents could show up on the scene…? I have no other ideas lol)
(Lol. It's up to you. I'm good with whatever.)
(Sure then
Uh want me to start?)
(Lol. Would you, please? I should really work on my paper… sigh)
(Sure lol)
As they were walking through the park, conversing amiably with one another, Sebastian caught sight of a head of stringy, ash-blonde hair. Frowning at the odd familiarity, he strained to get a good look at the woman, barely twenty metres away—— and the blood drained from his face.
Devon noticed Sebastian's sudden silence and looked over at him. Seeing how pale he had become, she followed his gaze to the woman who had caught his attention.
"Seb… Are you okay?" she asked gently.
“Turn around,” he told her urgently, “Now. We— we need to go. Another park. Anywhere.”
"Sure. Okay," Devon said softly, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. She trusted him enough, though, that she would do as he said. "We can head back to the cafe."
“Please,” he whispered, and his voice trembled slightly. They turned— but so did the woman. She began to walk towards them.
Devon squeezed his hand gently, letting him know she was there for him. Whoever that woman was, she must have done something horrible to be able to make the strong man beside her tremble.
(sdksjds I replied to this I swear)
They were halfway across the park when he felt a hand on his shoulder. Sebastian gritted his teeth, flinching away and continuing to walk.
“Sebastian.”
(Lol. That was me earlier.)
Devon glanced over at Sebastian when the woman spoke his name. He looked incredibly uncomfortable, making her wish whoever this lady was would just go away.
(sorry)
Sebastian tried to keep going, his desperation welling up until panic flickered over his features, but when she lay her hand on his shoulder again, her grip was like steel. Slowly, he turned around to face her.
“What do you want, Lori?”
Devon turned with him, making sure to keep their hands linked. She wanted to make sure that he knew she was there and that she wasn’t going to leave him alone.
She ignored the question, instead inclining her head towards Devon. His grip on her hand tightened. “Who’s this?”
“I believe I told you three months ago to leave me alone, Lori.”
She snorted. “What is this, a badly scripted movie showdown? Stop calling me Lori and call me ‘mom’ like you’re supposed to.”
Oh. Oh, dear… So that’s who this was. No wonder Sebastian didn’t want to see her. She was… brutal…
(This is so cheesy I’m sorry…)
(Barry?)
He turned around. She stopped him a second time. “Your father wants to speak with you. Says you won’t answer your phone.”
“Yeah, I thought you would have learned by now that I don’t give a shit.”
(Oops. This is what happens when I’m on more than one RP with someone. Lol.)
Devon raised her eyebrows and glanced over at Sebastian. She wondered what had happened between him and his parents for him to act this way, but she wouldn’t ask. He would tell her if he wanted to.
For now, she simply have his hand a gentle squeeze, simply reminding him of her presence.
“I’m sorry,” he said to Devon, and his whole face seemed to soften. He pulled her away.
His mother didn’t follow.
“Are you okay?” Devon asked softly when she thought they were far enough away from his mother.
(*far
oof)
"I'm sorry," he repeated, side-stepping the question, "That you had to see me lose control like that."
(…sigh…
Stupid autocorrect…)
Devon paused and turned to face him, daring to go so far as to rest her hand on his arm gently.
“It’s fine, Sebastian. But are you okay?” she repeated softly.
(I feel you there)
No. "Yeah. I'm fine." He offered a weak smile, glancing down at the hand on his arm. "But really, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gone berserk with you there. I just……."
"Don't apologize. Please. You have no reason to," Devon assured him softly, removing her hand from his arm when he galanced at it. "As long as you're fine, that's all that matters right now."
Sebastian reached for her hand again, needing the simple touch. "But—" He cut himself off before he could say anything stupid.
