forum Rykah and Will(because I can't think of a better title)

"Yeah" said Rykah sitting up a little, "And no you didn't wake me," he said trying not to think about how exhausted the flyers were,

Will pushed himself up on his elbows, watching his friend with concern. “You Alright?”

"Yeah I'm good" said Rykah looking towards the lightening sky, "It's been a full night"

Will wasn’t sure he believed his friend, but nodded anyway. “Are we out of the worst of it?”

"Of which part?" asked Rykah,

“The storm?”

"Yeah we're out of the worst of it I think, " said Rykah searching the horizon distractedly as the rain lightened into a drizzle.

“Good.”

Eventually the rain stopped entirely and the men let their shields drop, they were just about to switch off on carrying the net, when one of them let out a whoop.
Rykah twisted and could've lept for joy when he saw it, far in the distance, was the next Island.

Will smiled when he saw Rykah’s face. “We’re done up here then?”

"It'll be awhile yet, but we'll be there soon!" said Rykah happily, as the men finished the switch off, the other two dropped back, clearly tired, one of them signaled to Rykah.
Rykah saw the signal and nodded, carefully getting to his feet.

“What are you doing?”

"I have to fly for the last leg" said Rykah, readying to (quite literally) dive out of the net.

Will sighed and said, “Ok.” He didn’t particularly want to be alone, but knew it was mandatory.

Rykah dove, letting himself fall for several feet before slipping into the glide and soaring back up to the flyers. his face blanching a little when he saw the fear in their eyes.
Marco, who was just to the left of Rykah, called an order, and he and his mate surged ahead, drawing their swords as they saw the black smoke from the island.
"Rykah you were a Cadet right?" asked Marco.
"yeah" he replied nervously, Marco quickly pulled an extra harness out of his satchel. "You know what to do kid" he said seriously.
Rykah nodded taking the harness and quickly slipping it on, after checking it was as secure as possible he surged ahead next to one of the flyers carrying the net, the flyer had already gotten unhooked and he carefully passed the loop to Rykah, letting Rykah feel the weight before letting go and dropping back, Rykah faltered a little with the rope before getting it hooked on. He had to work a little more with the ropes to stay aloft but he gave the flyers a thumbs up anyway.
The flyers took the signal and quickly surged ahead, flying as fast as they could for the island.
Just stay calm Rykah, you did the excersises, and you trained for this. You can do this he tried to reassure himself as the weight pulled the leather straps hard into his shoulder.

(Oof, sorry. Brother just got home with his boyfriend, and I had to have the ‘protective sibling talk’ with him.)
Will watched, wondering what that felt like.

(OH… I hope I never have to do that with my siblings… at least not my first sister….)
Rykah tried his best not to falter but ended up doing just that, causing the net to dip. the flyer next to him gave him a reassuring look, "Find your rythym kid, I can match you" he said.

(Yeah. My brother(the one who just came home) and I switch giving the talk depending on who has a partner at the moment. I always feel kind of bad for our partners, because the first time they meet my family they’re being lectured.)
Will looked up, startled, when the net dropped a bit. He wanted to yell out encouragement, but figured it wasn’t the best idea right now.

Rykah let himself sink into the rythym of the flight, causing the net to jiggle as the other flyer adjusted his own rythym to match, as they got closer to the island.

Will jumped when the net jostled around, but quickly regained his composure.

Rykah looked apologetically down at Will, but quickly went back to focusing on flying.

Will just smiled up at Rykah when he noticed the look, but wasn’t sure Rykah saw it.

Rykah finally got the hang of it and immediately blanched when he took another look at the island. there was a huge airship at one side, and it was blasting the island with aura bolts and cannon balls alike. They were only a few hundred meters out now, and they could hear the shouts of fighting.

“Oh god.” Will said involuntarily.

Ryakh and the flyer came in for the landing, Ryakh carefully brought the net in, his leg getting tangled causing him to faceplant in the grass, causing the flyer to laugh as he came to help Rykah get untangled.
But they both froze as a large blast came from nearby, "You remember the protocol for this right?" Asked the man, leaving Rykah to untangle himself as he went over to a nearby box and pulled out a couple of swords.
Rykah who had gotten to his feet, quickly took and belted one of the sword to his side, grabbing the other as he went, "Yeah I remember," he said,
"Good, then your job is to keep your freind safe" said the man, handing him the other sword, "Head to the academy, they'll sort things out later!" He yelled as he took flight towards the fray.
Rykah held the other sword out to Will, "You'd better take this"

Will took it without question, standing up. “We’ll be ok…” it wasn’t a question. He wasnt sure if he was reassuring Rykah or himself.

"Yeah" said Rykah before taking Will's hand and leading him into the maze of buildings ahead.

Will squeezed Rykah’s hand every so often, more to assure himself that Rykah was still there than the other way around.
