Trent picked up a cookie, biting into it a smiling brightly. “I haven’t had one of these in ages.”

“Saaaaaaame. Last time I took one, my foster mom took my gambling money and spent it on beer. But I took one from her, so I guess fair deal.”

Trenton visibly tensed, shoving the plate of cookies in Lydia’s direction. “You should eat more. They’re good.” He insisted.

“Sorry. Shouldn’t’ve Told you that.” Lydia said, shaking her head.

“No, It’s not like that…” Trent fumbled for the right words to explain himself.

“You ok?” Lydia said, noticing the stuttering.

"These kids are as messed up as Blair, do you think we could help them?" Bren signed to Angel, they both knew sign because Angel's brother didn't speak. "We can try." Angel replied.

Trenton frowned for a moment. “I don’t enjoy entertaining the notion you are… unsafe at any point. Although I understand that is rather foolish of me.”

“I’m ok, really. My foster mom just gets drunk sometimes. Most of the time she’s just on a ‘date’” Lydia put airquotes around the word ‘date’, “Or she’s asleep.”

“You stay with Sam as well?” Trenton asked quietly, worry still flashing in his eyes.

“My brother?”

He nodded in response. “Would it be correct to assume you are joint in your travels?”

“Of course.”

Trent sighed in relief. “Good.” He mumbled softly, patting Lydia on the head. “As long as you have each other, I suppose.” He sounded a little deflated.

“Yeah….” Lydia said quietly. Although she loved her brother, she was more of a parent to him than a sister.

“I suppose it would be foolish for me to consider stealing you both at the end of the summer.” Trenton sighed. “I’ll be up at boarding school for most of the year anyhow.”

“I’ll be ok. My brother isn’t even really aware of my foster mom. He obviously knows she’s there, but he knows to let me talk to her.” Lydia said, adding, “I drop him off at school most days anyway.”

“You’re too young to have to deal with such things yourself.” He remarked softly. He desperately wanted to envelop Lydia into a hug, but figured she likely wouldn’t appreciate that kind of behavior at the moment.

“Lots of people are too young to deal with lots of things. Compared to some kids here, I have a wonderful life.”

Trent scuffed his sneaker on the ground. “I know.” He replied, sounding a bit like a whining child.

“It’s fine, Trent. I shouldn’t have said so much anyway.” Lydia said, rolling her eyes.

“I’d rather you speak of it then leave me blind towards it.” He grumbled, this time purposely messing up Lydia’s hair when he patted her head.

“Oh, come on! The one day my hair looks ok, you mess it up!” Lydia said laughing.

“I’m a son of Aphrodite, I can assure you it already looked less than okay fashion wise. I’ll fix it for you next time you come to my cabin.” Trent smirked confidently.

“Ah! Rude!” Lydia said, faking a gasp.
