“I don’t mind either way,” she told him tentatively, pleasantly surprised that she felt no need to lie to her the words out. Successfully cleaning the blood off her arm, she pulled her sleeve down again, crossing the flat to sit on her couch.
“Oh,” Lucian said, looking out of the window at the building. He glanced down at his hand, already seeing the bruises on his knuckles forming. “I should probably head home anyways. Get ice on my hand,” he said. “But I can stay on the phone if you want.”
“Yeah— does it hurt a lot?” She spoke into the phone, picking up the little pitbull plushie and turning it over in one hand. “And it’s fine, but thank you. Go get your hand fixed up, I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“No, it doesn’t,” Lucian answered. “It’ll be bruised for a couple days, but I’ll be fine.” He resisted the urge to sigh when she said the second bit. “Right, okay. I’ll see you later.”
“Bye.” She told him with a small smile, whispering a ‘thank you’ before hanging up.
“Bye,” Lucian responded before he hung up as well. He sat in his car for a minute longer before starting it again and driving away.
(Sure. When to? Another date?)
(Sure, where to this time? Maybe something different, what about a picnic on an unusually warm day?)
(Oh yeah, that would be a good idea)
(Alright! Want me to start or can you?)
(I can start. I feel like I’m going to be asking this every time, but should we say that Lucian picked Morrigan up?)
(Dw about it, I can specify each time, sorry
Yeah, sure, sounds good)
(It’s all good, and alright)
Lucian pulled up to Morrigan’s apartment complex. He was in a tshirt and jeans, along with a light jacket just in case. He texted Morrigan to say that he was there for her when she was ready.
Morrigan had been thinking, a lot. All night long in fact, or at least for most of it. It was just bothering her— what were she and Lucian? Yes, they were going out together, but he didn’t feel like her boyfriend. Was she his girlfriend? Or was it too early for that? Did she want to be his girlfriend? If she was being honest, she had absolutely no idea.
When he had first asked her out, she had said yes because of fear. She would have rather been anywhere else. But now….. it was safe to say that he was doing his best to make her feel comfortable, something no one had bothered to do before. And… now, the thought of him kept causing an odd stirring in her chest..
Morrigan glanced down at her phone, smiling at the screen. She grabbed a light jacket and a pre-packed basket and was out the door in less than thirty seconds.
Lucian waited for her. He had considered getting her more flowers, but thought that might be a bit too much, considering he just got her some. He had packed a few drinks, while she had been getting some of the food. He glanced back at the cooler in the backseat.
Morrigan approached the car, making sure that both her sleeves were safely tugged down before tapping on the car window to get his attention.
Lucian looked over at the window and unlocked the door. Once Morrigan was inside he draped both hands across the sterring wheel and smiled. “Hey.”
“Hey,” she returned, offering a small but genuine smile. “How’re you?”
“I’m alright, how are you?” Lucian asked Morrigan. He looked over and kept the smile on his lips.
“I’m good,” she answered, adding on mentally. Confused, too. What are we, Lucian? “I brought all the food. Sandwiches, muffins, fruit salad.”
Lucian nodded his head at that. “Sounds good. And I brought some differnet drinks- mostly just waters and sodas,” he added.
“Sounds great.” And it did, she had been admittedly excited for it all night. “How’d you sleep?”
Lucian reached up to brush his thick hair back a bit before nudging his glasses up as well. “I slept pretty good. How about you?”
Morrigan’s eyes followed the movement of his fingers, giving the tiniest, involuntary yawn. “I slept.. okay.”
Lucian tilted his head a little bit. “So you’re still a bit tired?” He asked.
“Mm,” Morrigan affirmed, a twinge of nervousness forming in her stomach. She said nothing else, lest she gave too much away, biting her lip nervously.
Lucian nodded his head slowly. “I won’t keep you out too long, then. You should take a nap when you get back home,” he recommended.
“I’ll be fine, don’t worry about me,” Morrigan assured, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear. “But thank you. Which park are we going to?”
Lucian put the car into drive and pulled out onto the road. “There’s a nice park a few miles down the road. Has lots of nice, open areas.”
