"No, we don't own the kitchen. You could still eat." Bren said simply, an eyebrow raised and his body language still causual.
(Can I just talk about the fact that my school went into lockdown because of a former student? Like jeez.)
Lydia rolled her eyes, moving towards the cupboards.
Trenton was visibly on edge, watching Lydia like a hawk. “Thanks.” He replied flatly.
(Are you okay @Hawkeye?)
(Yeah, I’m fine now, turned out to be nothing.)
Lydia found a bag of bread and some peanut butter and set to work making sandwiches.
Trenton wrinkled his nose at the smell of peanut butter, making him look a bit like a bull dog with his scrunched up cheeks.
“You Alright?” Lydia asked.
“Peanut butter’s gross.” Trenton mumbled almost completely inaudibly. A look of panic shot through his eyes for a spilt second. He awkwardly coughed a few times before actually speaking up so everyone can hear him.
“I find peanut butter to be rather distasteful.”
“Oops, sorry.” Lydia said, putting away the peanut butter and shooting him a look of concern. “You like honey?”
Trent perked up at this, swiftly nodding. “Honey is acceptable.”
Lydia smiled. “Anything else?”
Trenton looked cautiously at Bren and Angel before abandoning his post at the door. He moved to stand next to Lydia, peering over her head to look through the upper cabinets.
“See anything you want?” Lydia asked, puting honey on bread.
Trenton scoffed in distain at the ingredients in the cabinet, shutting it with a gentle click. “No thank you, I wish not to turn my bread into a culinary disgrace.” He grumbled quietly. “Unless you are interested in expired paprika I suggest you do the same.”
“Ugh.” Lydia said, putting pieces of bread together, and handing a sandwich to Trent.
“Thank you.” Trenton kept his facial expression nuetral, but amusement sparkled in his eyes. He took a tentative bite of the sandwich. “Satisfactory job.” He complimented.
“Oof. Just satisfactory?” Lydia said, laughing.
“I apologize for degrading this…” Trenton paused, unsure of which word he wanted to use. He held up the sandwich. “…marvelous creation of yours.”
“I’m joking, Trent. I know it’s not the best, but what do you expect? A five-course meal, with roast chicken and goose?” Lydia said.
Trenton cracked a smile, chuckling slightly. “It was a jest as well, little dwarf.” He patted her on the head to emphasize his point. “Goose would be preferable. Perhaps salmon would be a good substitute?”
Lydia raised her eyebrows, trying her best to look scary. She also tried extremely hard not to laugh. “Little dwarf?”
Trenton exaggeratedly mimicked her facial expression, curling his lips into a snooty looking snarl. “Indeed.” He was unable to keep the amusement from his voice. Mischief gleamed in his eyes as well.
Lydia shook her head, laughing and rolling her eyes. “Wow.”
Trent took a bite of his sandwich, accidentally smearing honey on his cheek. He kept a rather smug looking smile on his face, but stayed silent.
“You got some…” Lydia pointed to her own cheek, laughing as she did so.
Trenton looked around for a napkin, trying to stifle a laugh since Bren and Angel were still in the room. “You are quite immature.” He grumbled, though it was clear he was teasing.
“Oh, I’M immature? I’m not the one with honey all over my face like a little kid.” Lydia said, not even bothering to hide her laugh.
“You dare denounce me as childish?” Trenton’s smile was spreading infectiously across his face. “I am simply grizzled, like the bears of the northwest.” After a moment of hesitation he tried to immiate a growl, but his voice cracked halfway through.
Lydia burst out laughing so hard she almost hit her head on the counter. “Very grizzled.”
Trenton actually burst out laughing for the first time. It was a deep booming laugh that he couldn’t get under control. He stumbled back a little, leaning on the counter for support.
