“Glad he did. Now I can tell you about how bullshitty that is. Vaughn would never hurt anyone,” Veronica snapped. Vaughn was lucky that she was a perfect lier.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Right, I believe this call has reached its end. Bye Veronica." She hung up and slipped her phone back in her pocket. "Such a shame, I thought she'd be of more use to me."

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"I'm not implying anything." Her face was still neutral, refusing to break the mask. Your sister would sell you out if it meant she got something she really wanted.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"You want the truth? Fine then. Anyone would sell anyone else out no matter how close they claim they are if they were given a good enough price. If she had the choice to save her life or yours, she'd save her own skin without batting an eye." Her neutral expression and flat tone only made the words worse.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"My family is dead, my friends don't exist, and no one in this town gives two damns about me. The last time I was held at gunpoint with my best friend and she chose to save herself over me in a heartbeat."

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Right, my shift is over but I don't trust you so you're coming with me." She unlocked his handcuffs and snapped them behind his back, tugging him towards the door.

Her apartment was on the other side of town in a small building. She unlocked the door and flicked on the light. "Home sweet home." The apartment was rather small, smaller than most people would expect for someone like her.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"I don't. But I also don't have a choice." She shrugged, closing and locking the door behind her. There was a small kitchen with a living room on the other side and two doors down the hall. "The bathroom is on the right, my room is on the left."

@Elder-God-Jacks347

"Knock yourself out." She led him down the hall and pushed him into the bathroom, flicking on the light and closing the door. The space was especially small and made her claustrophobic but it did what it had to.

Vaughn huffed once the door was closed. He stood there against the sink, looking at himself in the mirror. He could have sworn the sillouhette of a dark figure was standing behind him. The figure had it’s hands resting on his shoulders. You shouldn’t be here, Vaughn. What do you think you’re doing? it asked in a whisper.

He gave a shrug in response to the silhouette. You should be at the gas station.

“I should be taking my meds,” he mumbled softly in response, and the silhouette snarled before jerking back and vanishing. He reached over to flush the toilet and washed his hands, despite not even doing anything.

She slipped back into the kitchen, taking four pill bottles out of a cabinet above the sink, setting out her medication. "Two for anxiety, two antidepressants, one for schizophrenia, and one for insanity." She murmured to herself.

Vaughn wondered if he should wait for Roxanne, but decided against it. After a moment, he managed to get the door open and stepped out into the hall.

@Elder-God-Jacks347

She swallowed her pills dry and put the bottles away, nestling them among their other orange and white bottle comrades. "I'm only alive because pills run my mind instead of me." She sighed, repeating her mantra to herself.
