Devon choked back another laugh as she saw his face. Gosh, that was funny to see…

“Layla— sweetie— that’s not—“ Sebastian gave up, a confused smile twisting his lips. “You know what, sure.”

“I told you that you’re her favorite,” Devon chuckled, shaking her head as Layla played with her new doll.

Layla paused for a moment, her eyebrows dipping cutely. “Bahstin!” she finally decided with a giggle.

Devon chuckled and covered her mouth, hiding her smile. Of course she had decided to name her new doll after her favorite person.

Sebastian bit his lip, smile faltering as he remembered his earlier words to her. "Yeah," he replied finally. "I guess."

Devon’s smile fell a little when she saw his smile falter. Had she ruined their friendship by not saying anything earlier?

She sighed and fingered the paper in her pocket. Should she give it to him now?

Devon’s gaze shot back up towards him. “No. Um… No, I actually… I have this for you,” she said softly, pulling the small paper from her pocket and handing it to him.

Sebastian's brow furrowed in confusion as he took the paper in one hand. He set Layla down before unfolding it slowly.

The note was simple. Just a few quick words that she hoped he would understand: I don't mind, either.

It was referring, of course, to when he had implied that he didn't mind people thinking they were dating. Devon hoped that he would know that it meant she was willing to be more than just a friend.

Devon gave him a soft smile and nodded slowly. "Yeah… If you want, that is," she said with a soft laugh, already knowing his response.
