Thomas nodded, "I'll keep it in mind, promise" he made a 'cross my heart' sign
Conner shook his head, "Don't worry about it," he said, "I'd do anything for my siblings,"
Thomas nodded, "I'll keep it in mind, promise" he made a 'cross my heart' sign
Conner shook his head, "Don't worry about it," he said, "I'd do anything for my siblings,"
He chuckled lightly and buried her head back into his neck, craving his touch and warmth "So where to next?"
"you have siblings?! there's more of you????" his jaw dropped "how many siblings do you have?"
Thomas shrugged, "Wherever you want" he said, kissing her cheek, "As long s you'll be there"
Conner giggled, "I have an older stepbrother and a younger half-sister," he explained, turning a corner, the restaurant coming into view
She smiled "what time is it?" she asked out of the blue
"And are they as great as you?" he smiled seeing the resteraunt
"Um, around 20:00, I'd guess" he said, looking at his watch to confirm, "Why?"
Conner nodded, "My sister is so cute. She just had her seventh birthday last week" he beamed as they walked towards his car, "I haven't heard from my brother in ahwile though…"
"yes yes yes yes yuss, we can make it, come on!" she stood quickly and pulled him up, heading to the cliffs "come on come on come on!!"
"congrats!" he smiled at his happiness "i'm sure he'll turn up soon, probably busy, are you close?"
Thomas blinked, grabbing his disc and following, "What? What's happening?" he asked
Conner shrugged, "Not really, if I'm being honest. He never really liked me. When his dad married my mom he actually became really upset and cut off," he shrugged, unlocking his car, "We became kinda close when I moved out, but drifted apart over the years." he helped Loki and Reyla inside, then got inside,
"just follow, we might be able to get a good view from here," she crouched down in the bushes near the edge of the cliff and gestured for him to sit beside her "watch" she jerked her chin towards a clearing.
He nodded in understanding, "I get that, maybe you can meet up sometime and talk, just as brothers. Nothing personal just casually like you used to do. Imma check the restaurant real quick." He smiled and walked towards the doors, making sure they were locked. He peered inside. "Shit…" He pulled out his phone and dialed Ferrris's number "pick up pick up pick up!!!!"
Thomas crouched next to her, peering into the clearing, "What am I looking at?" he asked in a hushed whisper.
Conner looked over and saw the panic, "Stay in here guys" as if the dogs would leave. He got out and ran over, "Raz, what's going on?" he asked
She heard the phone ring "hold up," he said point at him "Hello, hey Raz- what?….nonononononononononono….I'm on my way." she hung up and stood. "we need to leave, I'm sorry but something came up."
He gestured for him to wait while he talked to Ferris. After hanging up, he pulled Conner aside "Our parents are in there waiting, I need you to drive home, bring the dogs, but get out of here, I'll let you know when everything's safe." He instructed, and kissed him once more before heading into the restaurant.
Thomas stood as well, "Okay. What's going on?" he pressed the disc to his chest and prepared to fly.
Conner watched him go for a minute, then followed his instructions and got into the car, turning it on and driving to his house. He got out and grabbed the dogs, taking them inside and filling a bowl with water and another with some leftover meat he had found in the fridge. Unable to sit down, he held his phone in his hand and paced back and forth
"My parents are at Raz's restaurant….this is going to be interesting," she said as she walked off towards the cliff "whatever you see, whatever you hear, do nothing, I know that didn't really work this time, but please, they will hurt you if you intervene."
"Hey, mom, Hey, dad, Raymond." he sighed and sat in an empty booth and stared daggers at them "you know she'll say no, so why bother?"
"Maybe she's changed…" Zuriel said to her son "all we want is her to be a part of our family
"your…you mean your family"
Thomas followed with a nod, taking off and following her to the restaurant, landing outside and waiting for her. He peered inside and looked at the people inside, watching their movements.
Conner eventually sat down and turned on the tv, just for a distraction
She entered quietly and sat next to Raz "what. Do. want." she knew…knew what they were here, "I told you I won't do it."
Thomas stood beside her, staying silent. He folded his arms across his chest and watched them, curious, but cautious
(mind bumping the one on one? I can't find it for some reason)
"You know why we're here, Ferris, it's time." her mother said
"I already told you," she growled, not sounding like herself "I'm not doing that again."
"Don't you want to be part of this family? normal? together?" her father asked
"Normal? family?! you haven't been any of those things for a very long time dad" she rose from her seat and faced them "but if it'll make you happy, fine, let's see if this 'darkness' will leave me for once" she said with a grin
Her parent's motion forward to the shadow in the corner. A wraith.
Ferris knelt in front of it "hello old friend." the wraith looked saddened by her lack of fear but continued forward, slowly circling Ferris until it possessed her
Raz looked away, knowing he could do nothing to help his sister and hating himself because of it
Thomas' eyes widened and he took a step forward, but held himself back more, "What's happening?" he asked Raz, beginning to panic, "What's happening to her?!"
"what normally happens when they come," he replied, deadpan and hollow. "They try to 'purify' her by filling her with so much darkness that it cancels itself out and dies, only leaving her a husk of pure white, and 'happiness'"
With a shriek, the Wraith left Ferris's body and returned to their parent's side. ferris, breathed out, trying to catch her breath, looking exhausted "I told you….it's not going to work," she said with a triumphant smile, despite her lack of strength. Her hair lighting on fire like its done before, she stood on wobbly legs and walked up to her parents, stopping only when her oldest brother stood between them. "Not a step closer Fer." he ordered. She smiled at him "so much fun we all had as kids Ray, now you're against me? my how things have changed." she shook her head in sadness. "I didn't know what you were, when we were young, I didn't know the monster you are." he growled. Ferris looked up at him "and because of this," she said pointing around the room, to her parents, to the wraith "you will never know." Her flames went out, causing the rest of her strength to disappear and for her to fall to the ground "leave."
Thomas couldn't help himself anymore and he ran to Ferris' side, catching her and supporting her while kneeling, holding her trembling body close. His blue eyes became sharp and dark and he looked over at the family, "You should go," he growled dangerously, shielding her from them
"You shouldn't be this close to her, boy. She's dangerous and a threat to you and those you love." Zuriel said cold-heartedly, looking at her daughter with scorn before disappearing in a cloud of white along with the other men.
Raz crouched down next the two and pulled Ferris's hair away from her tired face "two attacks in one-day little sis, better than last time." he said with a small smile, knowing he wasn't helping much but couldn't help making jokes.
Ferris laughed at Raz and looked up at Thomas "thank..you," she croaked as she leaned against him, wanting his warmth and support more than ever.
"get her home, I'll clean up here and head to Conner's, If you need anything, anything at all, don't hesitate to call, ok? and call me when she's Better." He kissed the top oh Ferris's head before heading to the back and grabbing a broom
Thomas helped her stand up, "I will," he promised Raz, pausing, "Please take care of Conner, he needs a bit of stability in his life," he said before picking Ferris up and walking outside, taking off and flying to the tower, landing inside and walking to his room, laying her down on the bed, "Stay here, love, okay? I'll get you some water," he whispered, kissing her head before walking to the kitchen.
Conner was looking at the tv, but not really watching. Every ten seconds he checked his phone, afraid of what was happening
Raz nodded as they left "I will."
She nodded and closed her eyes, trying to block out her thoughts and relax, before opening them again and looking around the room. She stood and slowly walked over the closet, pulling out one of his shirts and slipping it on over her clothes. She plopped down on the bed and sighed, hating how weak and helpless she felt
Thomas filled a glass with water and walked back in, smiling as he saw the shirt. He sat on the bed and helped her sit up, handing the glass of water over, "I'm sorry you have to go through that" he murmured, stroking her hair gently
she drank gratefully. "Don't be, it's their loss, not mine."
Thomas chuckled, rubbing her back, "Next time they come I'm just gonna treat them like I did Jax. I'm not just gonna stand around and watch that happen to you again," he said firmly
"You can't do anything, not against them. They'll hurt you, or worse if you try to interfere." she looked down at her hands "I won't have you hurt because of me." she looked at him "There won't be a next time anyways."
Thomas sighed, "I'm sorry," he said, "I wish I could protect you from them," his voice was quiet
"you already are,"she looked up at him "more than you know love." She snuggled close to him and sighed "unlike them, you will never lose me to the darkness"
