A few minutes later, Marina was stuck again. Upset, she threw her pencil down and caught her head in her hands. This was supposed to be easy!
He glanced over at her paper "need help?" he asked quietly
"Yes," she whispered, lot looking at him.
He explained to her the problems that she was having trouble with, trying ignoring the Snickers and comments that rised around them.
"Aw need freak is helping the loner! How cute!!!"
His fists clenched, he could deal with them calling him names, but not her
"Awwww two freaks in a freakshow!"
Marina looked over her shoulder. "Shut up, Jackson," she sneered.
"Look who's defending nerd boy over here, its geek girl." Jackson cackled at his own joke
"or what girly, whatcha gonna do?"
Cas let out a growl, before launching himself over the table and grabbing Jackson by his collar
"call me what you want, but if you ever speak to her again like that, I'll pin you down and let her beat the daylights out of you, understand?"
"Cas. out. NOW." Mrs preskott yelled, knowing to send him anywhere but the office "take a walk,"
Cas nodded, mumbled a sorry to his teacher and silently left the room
Marina looked from Mrs. Preskott to the door to Jackson, who had in the meantime recovered and was smirking at her.
"Looks like you got yourself a grade A bodyguard, huh Marina?"
She narrowed her eyes and gritted her teeth angrily. "You've got some nerve."
Cas shoved his hands in his pockets and walked to the library, the only sanctuary he had to calm down. The librarian had given him the key that locked and unlocked the doors, knowing that'd he's been there often. He breathed in the familiar scent of pages walked over to his favorite section, romance. He sighed and picked up a book, like the description and found a seat near the back.
"Are you gonna beat the daylights outta me or what?" Jackson asked with a laugh.
Marina only glared.
"enough you two." Mrs. Preskott ordered "Marina, go." she allowed her to leave the class to find Cas
"you, I will happily call your parents." she said glaring at Jackson
Marina quickly stood and left the class, heading immediately to the library where she knew Cas would be. She found him and quietly approached. "Uh…" she said quietly.
He jumped, when she spoke, quickly hiding the book "hey, did Mrs. Preskott send you? I'm fine, if she's worried, truly." he rambled
"She kinda did. After Jackson got a few more shots in," she muttered the last part. She noticed his book and tried to change the subject. "Whatcha reading?"
He glanced down at his feet and handed her the book, slightly embarrassed "Its called 'one rose, one love.'" he glanced up at her.
"Is it good?" she asked, returning his gaze.
he nodded "yea it is,…you should probably head to class, I'll be fine on my own, don't worry about me." he said with a smile
"I'm not leaving here without you," she retorted, smiling as well.
He schooched over in the couch and patted the seat next to him "no wonder you never get any work done,"
She pressed her lips together tightly and sat beside him.
"what, am I wrong?" he smiled and continued to read his book, glancing over at her every so often
"No," she muttered, folding her hands tightly in her lap. Stupid…
He laughed a little and sighed "I could stay here forever." As long as I'm with you "he didn't threaten you again did he?"
"No," she replied, partially the truth. "Don't worry about me – have you had enough time to calm down?"
He nodded "yeah, I think I'm good." he stood from the chair and put the book back on the shelf, waiting for her before locking the doors behind him. "And for the record, It's my job to worry."
"Is it now?" she asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Yes yes it is." he glanced at her sidelong and smiled "who else is going to put up with your wildness and antics?"
"Antics?" she repeated, acting offended.
"Yes antics!" he said, though not being able to recall anything she did that would qualify as antics
"Name one 'antic' thing I've done," she challenged.
"Flicking people with a water whip, which just so you know, freaking hurts like hell."
