"You have the detonator, for all I know you just want to hold it to detonate it. You're insane enough."

"If you give me the remote, Jay will give you the bomb," she said, looking at Jay with her eyebrows raised.

He scoffed "I'm insane, not suicidal, there's a very thin line between the two." he sighed and faced the two "fine, I'll slide kate the detonator, only if Jay gives me the bomb first."

"Fine, I'll agree." jay sighed.

"No. The detonator first," Kate argued.

Basil rolled his eyes "you're no fun Kate." smiling he slid the detonator to her and face Jay, waiting to receive the bomb

Kate took the detonator carefully and motioned for Jay to slide the bomb to Brink. "If you try anything…"

Jay handed brink the bomb slowly.

"what could I possibly try? pull out another detonator, having you realize that I gave you a fake?" he smiled mischievously and reached back into his pocket "now that'd be interesting."

"That better be another detonator and not some energy bar in your back pocket."

"no silly," he teased "its the mechanism to stop the bomb's detonation" he said, dead serious. "put it down slowly."

Kate nodded to Jay.

Slowly he put it down.

"Good now step back." Brink slowly walked up to the bomb and turned it over, exposing the place to insert the mechanism in his hand. He inserted it into place and pressed detonate, it beeped three times then shut off "there, easy peasy." he stood and faced the two once more

Kate released a deep breath. "Thank you for not blowing us up," she said, her voice unnaturally soft.

"I was never going to in the first place, just fun seeing the look on your faces. That remote you have, that's a television remote, I have the real one." He took it out from his coat pocket and clicked it a few times"whoops, there goes the bank," he smiled "kidding kidding….. this one's for Gotham jail."

"yeah" Jay said then started walking out. "See you all later. I am going to go get something to eat at some fast food place."

Vanessa saw jay walk out and waited for brink to come out.

Jay got into his car then looked around for the keys to start it.

"again, kidding. well gotta split. This has been exhilarating, but I'm afraid the shows over." throwing a smoke bomb, he ran for the nearest window and jumped, hoping he landed on Vanessa's car

Kate coughed and choked on the smoke. "Brink!" she yelled angrily.

Jay sighed then sat back and noticed his keys right next to him.

Vanessa saw Brink and sighed a breath of relief.

He landed on the car, denting it slightly and waved to Vanessa "let's go!" he swung himself into the passenger seat, glancing back at his parents and smiling. Harley shook her head at Joker "you taught him all this didn't you?" Joker smiled at winked at Brink "but of course I did my dear, though I didn't teach how to hack a bomb, that's on him." he smiled proudly at his son "mom, I'm fine, I'm just glad you two are safe."

Vanessa hopped in the front seat and sped away.

Kate coughed again when a shadowy figure appeared in the doorway.
"Kate?" The person approached. "Kate, what happened?" Maria Hill asked, waving the smoke away.
"They– They got away. The Joker and Harley Quinn escaped."

Jake finally started his car and drove home. He decided not to get dinner first. He wasn't very hungry.

"After them," Maria ordered her agents. Once they were alone, she wrapped her daughter in a tight hug. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine," Kate replied quietly. "It's my fault they got away."

Jake drove calmly home then went to his room.

Brink sighed and leaned back in the seat reaching over to Vanessa "are you ok?" he asked eyeing her shoulder
