Barry let out a little yawn, rolling his sore shoulders. "That was nice, babe."
"Yeah… We should do stuff like this more often," Kasey said, yawning a little. "Are you hungry? We could do lunch."
"Sure," he agreed, pecking her cheek. "What're you in the mood for?"
"Hm… A sandwich would be fine. What about you?" Kasey wondered, siting up slightly.
"Sandwiches sound good." Barry slid her off his lap so that he could move towards their food.
Kasey scrunched her nose up at him playfully. "Hey. I was warm there… Rude…"
Barry laughed softly, reaching for a few containers. "Oh, you're welcome to sit there any time you want. But you're the one who wanted to make lunch."
"Doesn't mean I had to move," Kasey muttered under her breath. "Anyway, I'll just have peanut butter and jelly."
It was Barry's turn to scrunch up his nose, only this time in disgust. "I honestly don't see the big deal with Americans and PB&J. It's gross."
"I grew up eating it, babe. I like it," Kasey laughed lightly. "You are the strange one to me for not liking it."
After setting the Tupperware down, he threw up his hands in frustration. "Explain to me how peanut butter and jam are a good combination. Bleh."
Kasey blinked and raised her eyebrows at him. "They just are. I'm not saying you have to like it, but I do."
Barry shook his head in mock frustration, barely stifling a chuckle. "Americans…. always messing a good sandwich up."
“Rude,” Kasey laughed lightly, sticking her tongue out at him. “Are you going to make me a sandwich or not?”
With a playful roll of his eyes, Barry did as he was told. “Fine, I know I’m just a slave to you.”
“No… I could make it myself, but I just thought you were going to since you started,” Kasey said with a shrug. “How about you make mine and I’ll make yours?”
“I’m kidding, Kasey,” he told her, handing her a simple sandwich of ham and cheese. “Besides, I’m done already.”
Kasey scoffed and kissed his cheek as she took the sandwich. “Well, fine. It’s not PB&J, but it’ll do.”
Barry stuck his tongue out at her, tossing her the empty jam jar. “I couldn’t, there’s no jam left. See? It’s a sign. You’re not meant to have PB&J.”
“What? We finished it? Dang,” Kasey sighed, handing the jar back to him.
Triumphant, Barry replaced the jar and took a bite of his own sandwich.
Kasey crinkled her nose up at him before moving so she could lean against his side. Doing so, she took a bite of her own sandwich.
He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer, humming with contentment.
“This is nice,” Kasey murmured as she finished up another bite. “I’m so glad we decided to come on this trip.”
“So am I…” he mumbled through a mouthful of ham and cheese. “It’s njce to escape sometimes… especially with you.”
Kasey blushed a little and glanced over at him with a small smile. “It’s nice to get away with you, too,” she said softly.
Barry have her temple a small nudge with his nose. “We should do things like this more often.”
“Definitely,” Kasey agreed with a soft chuckle. “Maybe something big once a month or every other month?”
“Yeah,” he agreed, pecking her cheek.
“What do you think we should do next time?” Kasey wondered as she finished her food.
