Jonathan lifted his chin to welcome the sparse warmth of the sun across his face. It was uncomfortably cold and bitter outside, but he had to admit he did miss the atmosphere of being with fellow men, the sensation of power on his shoulders brought him a healthy flush of confidence. Some men brought their wives… John, however, would never let Jane stay in this place. Not with the possible risk of patriot invasion. Rare caution like his is why he was Lieutenant.
Peter emerged from his tent next to John. "Good to have you back Lieutenant," he said, clapping John on the shoulder happily. "How were the last couple of days?"
(Is this okay?)
Yeah!)
John flashed an amicable grin. "You won't believe it, Peter," he laughed. "I'm engaged,"
Peter gaped. "You?! What lucky woman got under your skin?"
He tossed his head back in a laugh, and scratched the back of his head, "Her name is Jane,"
"How did you meet?" Peter asked, surveying the camp as he talked.
He took a seat on a chair he set outside his tent. "Oh, its just a flurry of happiness and candlelight to me now," John hummed.
Peter smiled. "That's how it felt when I met Elizabeth. Why didn't you bring Jane with you? I would love to meet the woman that managed her way into your heart," he said, adding a good-natured wink.
"Well," John glanced at his friend, "I wouldn't want.. To risk any harm," he shrugged.
Peter became serious quickly. "Are the Patriots really that near?" he asked in a hushed tone.
"No, no, no," he laughed, "I just… I'm overprotective and paranoid for her, is all," André replied.
Peter relaxed visibly at this. "Ah, alright. I understand."
(When is he going to become a spy?)
Ill find a way to fit it in )
"I was thinking," he inhaled slowly. "I'd never think I'd ever get this far with a woman.." He spoke wistfully.
"Me neither. But then I met Elizabeth!" Peter laughed.
"She's beautiful," he continued to swoon over the thought of her. Oh, the Lieutenant was deep in love.
Peter smirked and tapped his colleague on the shoulder. "John? Oh, John? Can you hear me?" he teased.
John played with his comrade, holding the dazed look and staring off into the distance. However, his lip twitched with a smile.
Peter shook her head. "She's got you good, Lieutenant…"
"She does…" He sighed softly and shut his eyes. "I'm in hysterics for her,"
Bailey rested his head on the counter, wiping trails through the dew on his glass. "My wife died when I was twenty one," he spone in a raw tone, like a freshly torn wound.
Oh. Georg swallowed, offering him a sympathetic look and generally feeling incredibly useless. “I’m sorry.”
