"Yes, the Bourgeois party. If you would no longer like to attend, I can call Mrs. Bourgeois and alert her of the change."
"Yes, the Bourgeois party. If you would no longer like to attend, I can call Mrs. Bourgeois and alert her of the change."
"I think its best that I call, she still might be bitter about last time you two ran into each other, and she probably saw the news, so it won't help her disposition towards you." he smiled, and grabbed the phone
Nathalie tensed and nodded. "Is there anything that you'd like me to do?"
He shook his head "no, not at the moment"
"Are you sure you don't want me to call? You might not be on the best terms with her at the moment either."
"it's fine, what's the worst she can do, fire me?" He rolled his eyes a d smiled
Nathalie smiled a little and reached in her pocket. Her smile quickly died. "Dimitri still has my phone," she said softly.
"no he doesn't." he reached into his back pocket and pulled her phone out, giving it to her "sorry, forgot it was there."
Nathalie took it gratefully. "Thank you si– Gabriel." She was going to call Audrey herself, taking as much pressure away from Gabriel as she could.
he nodded "He's not going to hurt you. not now, or ever." he reassured her
She nodded. "Thank you," she repeated and stepped out into the foyer to call Audrey.
"Audrey Bourgeois, who is this?"
"Gabriel Agreste's executive–" Nathalie began.
"Oh, you!" Audrey growled.
Nathalie braced herself.
He looked around for Audry's phone number, knowing he had written it down somewhere but now not being able to find it.
Audrey lit into Nathalie aggressively.
"Completely, utterly rediculous! YOU were the one to convince him to not attend my party, weren't you?!"
"No, Mrs. Bourgeios, I–"
"You think that you have that authority?!"
"No–"
"Put Gabriel on the phone," Audrey demanded.
"He's busy," Nathalie stated.
"Doing what?"
"None of your concern."
He heard yelling from the hall and sighed, of course, she took the number.
What Audrey said next shook Nathalie to the core: "You know… Gabriel is extremely talented. I don't see how he could be happy with someone like you."
Nathalie didn't respond. She cupped a hand slowly over her mouth, trying not to break down on the phone with Gabriel in earshot. She doesn't mean it… No, she does. That's the problem. You just need to figure out if it's true. Nonsense! Gabriel wouldn't…
"He doesn't love you, he just tolerates you. You'd better enjoy this attention while it lasts," Audrey finished before mercilessly hanging up the phone.
Nathalie was left standing alone in the foyer, where even her thoughts turned against her.
What if she's right…?
He walked out, when he heard silence at saw her face "Love are you ok?" he asked in concern, slowly taking the phone from her and setting it down on the table, while guiding her to a chair "what did she say?" he asked gently
Nathalie blinked rapidly as if shaking off a daze. "She… She wasn't exactly happy that you aren't coming to her party."
(Bump)
(ahh thought i answered sorry!)
He crouched down near her "She's never going to be happy after the incident at the show, zi can accept that, what i'm questioning is why are you upset?"
(You're good!)
"I'm not," she said quietly.
"you are, and don't try to tell me otherwise"
She lowered her gaze shamefully. Reluctantly, she spoke again. "She said that she doesn't understand how you could be happy with someone like me. She said that you don't love me, you just tolerate me. She told me to enjoy the attention while it lasts."
He took a step back in surprise, and then composed himself "do you think that's true?" He asked quietly
"I… I imagine not," she answered.
"good, cus it's not." He looked her in the eyes "I've had a lot of time to think about the people that I want in my life, the ones I love and couldn't live without. I love you, and I will say it a million times until you are convinced a d then a million times more until you get sick of hearing it. Whether people believe what I know is true, is up to them, I don't care." He gave her a slight smile and walked off o his study to give her time to think
She released a breath and stood up. "I will never get sick of you telling me you love me," she murmured quietly before following him.
"And I will never get tired of telling you"
Her eyes widened. She hadn't meant for him to hear that. "Do you need anything?"
He smiled "no, I'm good."
"Are you sure?"
