Pierre returned to the men, shoulders sagging.

"No luck?" Cruz sighed.
"Maybe I can try to talk to the man…" Geoffrey spoke quietly.
Pierre nodded, his heart twisting.
Geoffrey cleared his throat. "Question," he announced.
"Yes?" He raised his head.
"If you were asked to take place as an active spy," Geoffrey spoke, "Would you accept?"
"Absolutely!" Cruz replied.
"Never," Francis commented. "Too dangerous,"
Pierre raised an eyebrow at Geoffrey. Was there something he wasn't telling them? "I don't know. Maybe."
He rested his scruffy chin on an open palm. "Because I'm aiming for starting a business in western Philedelphia, Daniels wants me to aim towards a redcoat audience," he sighed. "And reap intelligence from drunken bloodybacks,"
“Ah.” Pierre nodded in understanding. “Well, are you willing to do it?”
He scratched his temple, "If I am successful, I could be promited to intelligence officer," Geoffrey spoke.
"Oh," Cruz blinked.
“That…. wow. That sounds like a good deal to me.”
He leaned back, and stood up. "I have to keep it a secret, even from my wife," he admitted. Clearly that was a downer on him, the man was so loyal to his wife it killed him to keep even a simple secret.
“That would make sense, however painful it’d be.” Pierre spread his fingers. “She’d understand, though.”
"Would she?" Geoffrey murmured.
"Aye, you worry too much." Cruz spoke up. "You'll be fine. You're a soft brute, is what you are. Intimidating on the outside and soft as my lover's panniers on the inside." He snickered, his joke made Francis blush.
Pierre snorted at the comment, but didn’t disagree. “Of course she would. She knows you’d tell her d you could, but you can’t.”
"I suppose," he breathed.
He patted his friend on the shoulder. "It'll all work out."
Skip?
sure, to when?
André smiled reassuringly. "Not at all, sir. Jane, can we have a moment?"
Jane curtsied for him. "Of course, my sir," she said softly and left the room.
Henry stood up, looking from the door Jane had just left to John. "What is it?"
He took a seat in front of Jane's father. "I want to ask your permission to marry your daughter,"
sure, to when?
Here are options:
- Bailey and his personal predicaments
- Crangrape (ship name for April&Cruz)
- Louis and his boiiifren
- Piedonine
Henry arched his eyebrows. "Oh? And what makes you think that you're right for my daughter?"
ooh so many amazing options
also I love the ship name for April and Cruz lol
hmm.. I'm leaning towards Louis+boo or Bailey
Or Crangrape
John folded his hands. It was… Easier to talk to his war-hardened superiors than it was to talk to the father of his love. "You will not find a man better suited to protect than I, sir.."

"How can you prove that?" Henry asked suspiciously.
"I'm a Lieutenant, soon to be promoted to Captain, sir. The military trusts me and I have yet to make any dangerous mistake," John reassured. "I take it very seriously,"
