She held out her pinky, waiting. Her eyes were wide and playful.
He looked at it, a little confused before holding her pinky with his. “Promise,”
She giggled at his expression. "Do you not know what a pinky promise is?"
“I was just confused. I haven’t had to do that since I was little,”
"How old are you?" she asked curiously. She had so many questions ready on the tip of her tongue at any given moment.
“I’m 19,” he answered her question without hesitation as he would do with most other she had.
"I'm eighteeeeeeeeeeeeen," she announced, twirling in the water gracefully.
He chuckled. “I’m mermaid years does that make you an adult?”
"Nope! It's human years. I kept track in both because I never knew if I would meet a human my age."
He grinned, "Surprise! You did,"
"Yup! It paid off!" she cheered.
He snickered, "I suppose it did,"
"You're fun," she said suddenly. "I like you."
"You're incredible, I like you too!"
"That's such a coinkydink!" She giggled.
“I know right?! What are the odds?!” He liked how quirky she was.
"Why am I incredible?" she asked.
“You’re not like anyone else I know,”
"How so? I'm-" She flicked her tail. "A mermaid?"
“No. I mean your personality,”
"What about it?"
"It's just unlike anyone I've ever met in my life,"
"How sooooooo?" she asked, spinning in a slow barrel roll.
“I don’t know people who are so quirky and happy,”
"Why?"
“Because they’re no fun I guess,”
"So, I'm fun?!"
"Yes. You're pretty fun,"
"Oh, good!" she chirped. "I don't know what I would do if I was boring."
He sighed and chuckled. “That would be boring.”
