"You wouldn't." His eyes darted to Sterling. "Your girlfriend here is probably the most wanted murderer in the city. Calling the authorities on me would get her arrested too."

“Are you sure? Because I also happen to be a part of a very influential family. And we protect those we love fiercely. I’m sure my father would have no problems helping out an innocent girl who was being harassed by a questionable man,” Sterling mused, his eyes challenging.

"Ah yes, I remember. It's such a shame that her target happens to be said helper." His eyes shot back to Cass. "That's not true. Don't believe him." Her voice was weak and scared. While a target on the list from the agency was Sterling's father, he wasn't her target."

Sterling shook his head slowly, glaring at the other man. “Desperate, much? Why should I believe you over her? She would have told me if that were the case.”

"Would she? Tell me, if you were told to kill a person and could get to them by making their daughter fall for you, would you do it?"

“No. I wouldn’t. Because I haven’t been forced to do such a thing,” Sterling shot back.

"Hmm…such a shame, I was hoping to recruit you. Now come on Cass, we've got better things to do." "Please…no…" "No? Come on baby, you know better than to fight. You know what happens when you fight against me." She shuddered.

Sterling narrowed his eyes. “And what, pray tell, would that be?” he asked, wishing he could record this conversation.

"Physical and mental abuse. Sexual harrassment." She mumbled, just quiet enough that Sterling could hear but Niall couldn't. "Nothing you need to know about." He snapped.

Sterling’s nostrals flared at her words, and he forced himself to take deep breaths. “You know what? I think I just might call the police. If you’re not willing to tell me what you do to her, I’m not sure it’s legal.”

"Did I ever say it wasn't legal? No. But it's none of your concern what goes on in a workplace such as this."

“I would say that it is my concern, actually. Seeing as my girlfriend is expected to return to such a place.”

"Your girlfriend will be perfectly safe." She shook her head slowly and he dug his nails into her arm, making her whimper slightly.

“Why don’t we let the authorities decide that?” Sterling suggested, all but growling at the man. You do not mess with an Ainsley’s love.

"Bring it, lover boy." He challenged, yanking her into his arms. She yelped but his hand slapped over her mouth. "You convince the authorities, I'll hand her over. Until then, she stays with me." Her eyes were wide and terrified.

“No. She stays here. With me. And then maybe I won’t calm the cops on you,” Sterling demanded fiercely.

(I’m watching Riverdale, and now I want to change Sterling’s looks to KJ Apa’s. Lol.)

"She's coming with me. If you won't agree to let me have her while you convince the cops, then I'm taking her now."

Sterling glared at him, looking obviously ticked off. “Only if you give me your word that you won’t touch her while I’m talking to the cops.”

He thought about it for a second. "Deal." He let go of her. She crumpled to the ground, coughing since he'd been choking her slightly and the fact that she still couldn't walk.

Sterling dropped beside her immediately and held her in his arms. “It’ll be okay. I promise you, everything will work out all right.”

She gulped slowly, silent tears streaming down her face. She was terrified. All she wanted was to get out and get away from Niall.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t do anything more,” Sterling whispered, caressing her hair gently. “But I will get you away from him. I promise you.”

She sniffed and nodded. "Let's go lover boy. Before I change my mind and just take her." Niall tapped his foot impatiently.

Sterling shot a quick glare at him before taking Cassandra’s face in gentle hands. “I’ll figure this out,” he promised again before kissing her softly.

"Please…just hurry." She mumbled. "I don't want him to hurt you."

“I won’t let him hurt me. I love you. Okay? Just hold on to that,” Sterling said softly before pulling away. “I have to go, now, but I’ll see you again soon.”

"I love you too." She muttered back, a soft smile fluttering across her lips for a second. "Let's go lover boy. Now." He threatened.

“I’m getting there, hold your horses,” Sterling muttered, getting to his feet and glaring at him. “I’m calling the authorities. Now.”

"I'll be waiting. And if you try to cheat me, I swear I'll strangle her right here." Her eyes widened, she had no doubt he would.

Sterling’s gaze flickered back to her before landing on the man once again, his eyes hardened. “I would never play with her life like that.”
